TAWNY I wiped the blood and sweat from my brow in an over-exaggerated movement. I was beat, tired, overwhelmed, exasperated; as many words, as you can find to explain how broken a will and resolve was, I was it. The aftermath of the carnage I stood amongst, was unimaginable. The streets ran red with blood that was slowly being absorbed by the dry dirt of Cambiador. I looked up to Mason, one of Lamia’s warriors, hoisting yet another body over his shoulder and placing it in the bed of the truck, with the others.

Their father also followed him. I turned to Shantelle when she approached me. "Don't be nervous, it will be fun," I swallowed hard from what he said. "Let's go?" I nodded to her. We came out of the protection together and saw the two fightings. The three vampires were in front of us looking like they were thirsty. "Good luck," Shantelle patted my shoulder. "Don't die," and then she quickly ran to one side. One of the Dervys followed her.

Aurelia’s POV The moon hung low over the bushes, casting elongated shadows that twisted like specters across the blood-soaked ground. My heart pounded in my ears, a frantic drumbeat echoing the chaos we’d just clawed through. Bodies littered the underbrush—rogues groaning in defeat, their forms broken and frozen from Rune’s icy onslaught. The air reeked of blood and earth, thick enough to choke on. Malik stood there, a hulking silhouette with his bald head gleaming under the pale light, his golden eyes locked on Solana like a predator sizing up prey. The remaining rogues formed a loose circle around them, their breaths ragged, waiting for the signal to pounce or flee.

Like we’ve been put through a blender and somehow came out the other side still breathing. “We need to leave. Right now,” Mud says. He gestures to the rest of the men—those not helping with Knox. “Clean it up. Everything. Before someone calls the cops.” Hunter, Soraya, Serena, and Finn follow behind the people carrying Knox up the stairs. I start to push myself to my feet, and Mud is suddenly beside me, helping me up as my head spins. “You hit your head,” he says, studying my face. “Yeah, well, a grenade went off.”

I nodded my head doing a mental check on all the things I needed to do before leaving, I need my bags, and a shower, I could still smell the blood. The car came to a stop in front of a building, it was an abandoned cabin surrounded by nothing but trees for miles, it had broken windows, and a huge sign with red paint splattered all over it, that looked almost like dried blood, on the one intact window, the fake blood wrote ‘GET OUT’ a mark in the front that almost looked like a gash.

Marcus roared, his arms shifting immediately into massive amber-furred claws. The bubbling mud didn’t just rise, it re-shaped itself. Hulking, grotesque figures pushed up from the bog. They were mud-demons, eight-foot tall golems, built from thick sludge, rotting cypress roots, and bleached bones of the Coven’s past victims. Their empty eye sockets glowed the same sickly purple light as that effigy they’d sent to my estate. "Tear them down!" I screamed, half turning my body as I shifted. My jaw expanded, my fangs dropping, and I launched myself off the root-path straight into the center of the demon mass.

Yet, even the bravest warriors falter in the face of overwhelming odds. The ground becomes slick with blood, turning the earth into a morass of mud and gore. Bodies litter the battlefield, silent witnesses to the carnage that unfolds. Yet still, the battle rages on, each side refusing to yield an inch in this epic struggle for victory and honour. I could see Mad dog’s silhouette from the snow. He was holding a bloody knife. Derrick was on the ground. He was bleeding. Approaching where he laid were some vampires. Their fangs blared out, waiting to feast on his blood. Anger took a hold of me. I can't describe what happened to my body. I could feel something loosen up in my stomach. My insides

The colour of her face was slowly going to back to normal. Serra’s heart almost stopped as she looks at her friend. Crowd of thoughts swirl on her mind like a hurricane. Their eyes met and Serra could see fear, confusion and horror on her eyes. Her cloudy mind started to clear and a realization started to solidify in her mind, clearing the whirlpool of thoughts. Her heart skipped a beat. "Badblood!" Maddy said, choking the words out. She stood up and the colors now back on her face but she's still breathing heavily. She pointed at Mira. "Badblood!" Then she ran.

My feet felt light and my head heavy. My clothes were wet and clung to my body. My hands squished in the dirt turned mud beneath me. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as I tried to figure out what was going on. I struggled as I tried to remember something, anything. Flashes of training with Jade, the earth cracking open, and the mud monster flit through my mind. The mud monster.

Darick and his men were groaning in agony. Martin was trying to keep blood from gushing out of Wendall's stomach, but the blood was seeping through his hands. Isabella sobbed as she held Viktor's bleeding head. Fear gripped me as I stood frozen, staring at the blood bath scene before me. "I'm starting to see stars…" Wendall stated with a rough cough. And then not a second later, a scream rattled through Wendall's lips. Darick limped toward Wendall. He winced at each step, clutching his back.
