“You’re letting it drain you instead of commanding it. A simple wind chant shouldn’t be strong enough to knock you down.” I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to sit up. My vision blurred slightly. “I know,” I muttered, frustrated.
“I know I can do it. It just takes too much energy. I can’t seem to hold it.” He crouched beside me, his shadow falling over mine.
“Then you won’t pass the exam,” he said plainly. “And if you can’t pass, you’ll stay exactly where you are stuck, unranked, irrelevant. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” The words stung. I shook my head sharply.
