Neighbors
He again tries to step back, but his tone is not laced with the previous harshness this time.
"Shhh... just breathe," I repeat, while not letting him move away while I gently caress the side of his face.
His eyes are solely focused on mine. And along with anger, I notice anguish in his gaze.
Some of the stiffness leaves his body as he tries to match his breathing with mine.
"Everything is gone," He whispers as soon as he gains little control over his anger.
His tone might be quiet, but his pain can be heard in his voice.
"Nothing is gone," I reply without missing a beat.
