The next second, a white flash nuked my vision and forced my eyes shut. When I opened them again, my living room had straight-up rage quit and turned into a blood-red wasteland. "Okay, what the hell?" I squinted and spotted my six-foot-two husband, Adrian Chase, already doing the whole protective-dad thing with one arm around our son.

Jess sat up right and once more it was pitch black, that’s when jess understood what this was. “My nightmares.” Jess whispered, her voiced echoed in the darkness, but it was as if Jess had just said the key for everything to explode. Every single one of her bad memories, jumped out of the dark, young Jess sitting with her dead mother, trying to clean her wound, hoping she will wake up if Jess just keeps pressure on it. Her Father chasing her, beating her, screaming at her. Her beast tormenting her once again. All the Jess’s, the young ones or the older ones, each one of them that cried out in pain as they were being cut, burned or beaten, each Jess that was ever told how she should just die,

He mumbled a little before turning on his side but did not awaken. She shook her head, How can you be Dusk and Duskin? How can you pretend to be such a dark child when you are so kindhearted? Although she desired the answer to the question, she figured that she would never obtain the answer. Nightide remained secretive about their past. Hae Mina shook her head as she ventured up the staircase then fell on her bed in a heap. Her brain was too exhausted to push her back into her dreaded nightmares and so she slept heavily and deeply.

He was just lying on the floor of a dungeon with his eyes closed and his body not listening to him anymore and the blood pooling cold around his hands and the darkness behind his eyelids and the pain in his ankle going further and further away. He thought about the morning he had come back to the omega quarters after the medical room and Logan had been sitting on the edge of his bed waiting. He had not asked Logan to be there. Logan had just been there. Then he stopped thinking. His breathing slowed down and his body went fully still and the corridor was quiet except for the faint light from the carvings on the walls doing nothing and meaning nothing and being there anyway. Cigarette dangling from his lips. He looked thinner than I remembered, all sharp edges and restless energy, like something had been scraping him hollow from the inside.
