The sun sinks lower, the horizon painted in shades of violet and orange. ‎ ‎Then, from somewhere above, a faint rustle. ‎ ‎A raven. ‎ ‎It glides through the orange sky, wings cutting sharp lines against the light. It circles once, twice, then descends, landing on a rock near us. ‎ ‎I frown. “A raven?” ‎ ‎Dravon stiffens beside me. Ravens are not uncommon, but this one feels… different. Its feathers shimmer like oil, catching light that shouldn’t be there. Its eyes are too bright, too knowing and it locks on to mine.

I let out a small breath I had been holding and debate whether or not to mind link Maddox. If there’s a chance Maddox is apart of this then he won’t save me and instead would make things worse. Ryder followed my gaze, and when he saw her... his whole body tensed. “Raven?” he said, pulling back just enough to turn toward her. His voice was tight. Disbelieving.

Today, she’s not here, but Raven is—at least, he’s supposed to be. I finally spot the familiar black hoodie and a mop of long black hair in the left corner of the top row, away from the other spectators. I can’t see his face from so far away, but I guess he’s noticed me, since he raises a hand and waves. I can see no pom poms, thank God. I look away and proceed to my place, trying to empty my head of all thoughts unrelated to the game, to allow my instincts to kick in.

As they both stirred awake, Raven gazed at him with curious eyes, a departure from her previous growls. Kie, David, Sam, and Luke arrived with food, delighted to find the pair cuddling, a promising sign of progress. Raven no longer flinched at their presence, recognizing them as providers of sustenance. The group noticed a nest she had created, sparking a whispered debate: could she be pregnant? The lady was surprised and confused when he suddenly cut her off. "Y-Yes? I think she placed it on her vanity area." He felt like he was being poured with a glass of cold water when his speculation was confirmed. Hyde remembered it when he went to the victim's vanity table. He remembered what it looked like. Violet had just entered her room when a noise grabbed her attention. She looked outside to the balcony and froze at once upon catching a black raven on the balcony railing, its harsh caw piercing through the silence like sharp needlejabs. A cold dread washed over her, frosting her heart from the inside out. Those crimson eyes gleamed, and a note hanging off its beak told were enough to tell who had sent it. It had been sent by Zen. The raven fixed its gaze on her, unblinking, as if seeing through her. Then it blinked once and released the note, letting it fall onto the floor of the balcony. The soft sound of it landing echoed far louder in Violet’s ears than it should have.
