She leaned back into her chair, as if distance was needed for whatever she was about to say. “Gerard,” she said, voice softer—the softest I’ve ever heard. “You of all people should know that’s possible.” My chest tightened, my muscles contracting. “When someone becomes an omega, it rewires their brain,” she continued. “The brain chemistry. Instincts. Alpha pheremones that usually trigger aggression start triggering attraction.” Her eyes searched mine to be sure I was following. “There’s a reason Alphas clash with other Alphas, and omegas don’t.”

I closed my eyes and tried to steady my breathing. “How is my wolfless omega doing?” “What do you want, Anita?” Roxanne asked quietly. The news I had just dropped, made her weak as it made me. “I wasn't speaking to you. The wolfless omega has a mouth to respond. Or has she lost her speaking ability? Ah, you are really unfortunate” “I can speak and I am not wolfless” I replied. I had a lot I need to do and speaking to Anita and her minors isn't one of them.
