On A Quiet Street นิยาย & เรื่องราว

I slowly park my Forty-Eight Harley Davidson on the side of the nearly empty street. A broken streetlight flickers above my head, while the rest are completely off. The street is quiet, except for the snoring of a homeless man sleeping in the alley a few feet away. At least, I think it’s a man.

Michael’s POV The street was too quiet. Not the comforting kind of quiet you get at dawn, when the world is at peace, but the kind that aches in your head, that sets your instincts on fire and screams something is wrong. It was a hollow kind of silence, broken only by the distant hum of a flickering streetlamp overhead. Its light wavered like a dying heartbeat, casting long, jagged shadows across the slick, rain-slick pavement. We shouldn't have been here. But we were.

This looked like an average sleepy street. "You'll find out soon enough," he said. He got out of the car and signalled to me to do the same. I got out slowly, still half expecting a bloody scene to jump out at me but the town remained silent and calm. As my ear acclimatized to the environment, I began to hear the sounds from the different houses on the street. The sound of a TV, the sound of children laughing, the sound of a baby crying... 'What a beautiful street,' I thought.

She went inside and closed the door behind her. She was greeted by the intense silence in the house. She wasn't new to that. 5th Avenue was known to be one of the quietest areas in the city and quite safe too. A lot of the people that lived here were old folks who were just tired of the booming city life and just wanted a quiet place to age peacefully. Then, there were people like Emily who were the rich folks that needed a quiet place to sleep at the end of work every day after being attacked by the boisterous city they worked at.

Between them lay a wordless warmth, a closely held silent rhythm of trust and hope that only grew as they stepped out into the world. The quiet streets of the city whispered promises as she leaned against him, breathing in that warm scent, and it was like the world had hushed to welcome the moment. The road was almost empty and the streetlights cast a golden glow upon the road, silver streaks of the soft veil of the night mist rising again in silence. A chill and a calm breeze filled the air, as if the universe itself had come to a standstill to pay homage to the moment.

It is a quarter to midnight, the neighbourhood is an almost idyllic family oriented community, judging by all the dark quiet houses with porches doubling as gardens down the long winding street. The dark mercedes is nestled beneath the dark shade of a tree three blocks away from the Smiths residence, I direct the driver to drive on ahead with a simple gesture. He stops in front of the Smiths quaint house. Killing the quiet engine, I think I see a light flicker on in the dark quiet house.

she said, meaning it. Back on the sidewalk, the street was strangely quiet. The kind of quiet that made her skin crawl. The streetlights buzzed faintly overhead—even though it was only mid-afternoon. The sky was still a soft gray-blue, the sun high above, yet the lamps flickered like dusk had already crept in. Ryleigh looked up the road. No cars. No travelers. Just a few distant shadows of people walking into storefronts, all of them familiar pack members. No tourists. No outsiders. No one she didn’t recognize from the estate or around town.

The city was quieter than it had any right to be. Not the good kind of quiet — not the lazy hum of street vendors shutting down their stalls or the muffled bass of music bleeding from apartment windows. This was the suffocating kind. The kind that made every footstep sound like a warning and every shadow feel like it was watching you.

Faith's POV: The evening was unusually quiet as I walked down the street, my footsteps a rhythmic beat against the cracked pavement. It was one of those rare moments when everything felt still—almost too still. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was about to change, but I couldn’t quite place why. As I walked past row after row of identical homes, something about this small town seemed... off. The air was heavy with secrets, and the quiet seemed to speak of things unsaid.

she said, her voice gentle and reassuring. Together, they walked out of the house, into the quiet night. The street was deserted, except for the soft glow of the streetlights, which cast a warm, golden light on the pair. The silence was almost palpable, broken only by the sound of their footsteps echoing through the night air.
