Along the power lines sat three bluejays, one sitting slightly further away than the other two. Almost as if it were ostracized from his mates. My heart fell a little at the sight. I think I may see if she would put in an arcade, I think that would really liven up the place. Scanning the area, I notice a low-hanging tree swaying over the back patio. As I am looking at a tree I see a bird nest. In the nest I see a couple of babies moving around in it. Squinting to get a better look, I watch as one of the baby birds takes a sudden dive. Acting on instinct, I dash over, heart pounding as I watch it flap its wings wildly, chirping up a storm. It manages to glide a bit before crash-landing on the other side of the fence that is lining the back space.

I feel like I’m dragging a dead weight after sitting for so many hours, and my apprehension isn’t exactly making me limber on my feet. Meadow locks the truck with the keys Carmen hands off and we turn and stare at the trees where the birds seem to be patiently waiting on us. It’s unnerving and they are all quietly staring this way, all forty of them, like miniature models of fake birds, with that one larger especially jet black one in the center and looking like maybe he’s the leader of the bird crew. That little asshole who scared us half to death. I have my eye on that one for sure.

She remembered watching for hours, as the world seemed to turn black. She had thought it would never end. This reminded her of that. They crouched there silently, waiting. Scarlet held her breath

The flowers grew out of the soil into a large clearing with many village houses. She was amazed by how different and beautiful everything was. But then she noticed that there was something strange about the whole picture. "Hey, look ahead!" Pawn Clara cued Bishop Eloise to see something flying in front of her. Another Pecan-Zorro-yew was flying through the clouds on his way out of town. Between clouds and winds, it looked like a flying pumpkin. Not exactly an orange pumpkin, but the one which is transformed into a Cinderella carriage led by horses.

Candace I’m sitting at the dressing table, fixing my hair for the first time in days, when a bird starts singing right outside my tent. An ash warbler. For the third time since sunset yesterday. I almost smile. When it first happened, I made Ingrid go check. We were way outside of where the warbler should be, and if it was lost, I’d consider leaving my tent to make sure it got home. The last thing I expected was for her to report some kind of insane contraption making the noise. If it weren’t for the flute attached at the bottom, I’d have no idea what was happening. But now, every time the singing starts again, I know Eva is out there, trying to reach me however she can.
