Chapter One - Sylvie Slam! The door to the café bursts open. The cold winter breeze whips through the small shop, rustling the loose strands of my ebony hair. Momentarily distracted, I barely notice the hard wall of a body until it is too late. Crash! The sound of several ceramic mugs shattering against the unforgiving concrete floor jolts me back into awareness. As if making a huge mess wasn't bad enough, the sound echoed throughout the room and now several, if not all, eyes in the café have been drawn to me. As the spilt coffee slowly spreads across the floor, so too does the hot, red flush of embarrassment across my cheeks.

I was not the Crimson Priestess and even though I wasn’t sure what that entirely meant to me or the pack itself I would not allow Melina to tarnish that. I started looking at Rogan’s computer and the few books it seemed he had read to get information about who I might be. The idea of him looking at all of these items made me feel good that he cared that much. I picked up the first book which was written by a fellow wolf as it had far too many details about where wolves might be located at. I followed the geographics of the writing and realize that the Cresent Moon Pack couldn't be further than a few days away from us if traveling by wolf. That made the idea of an attack now hard to believe.

snapped the agent. Caitlin dug into her pocket and extracted three crumpled dollar bills. She slid them under the glass. The agent, still ignoring her, slid back a Metrocard. Caitlin just swiped the card and entered the system. The platform was poorly lit, and nearly deserted. Two homeless people occupied the bench, draped in blankets. One slept, but the other looked up at her as she walked by. He started mumbling. Caitlin walked faster. She went to the edge of the platform and leaned over, looking for the train. Nothing.

It topples over before I can reach it, spilling crisp money against the wooden floor. "Vergel, what are you doing?" Finn takes a single step between me and the deadly man ahead of me. Vergel looks from me to the bag I keep staring at. "This is what you want, right? Money and the fucking spellbook the whole fucking thing—probably got you into this mess. You’re so fucking pretty, but your selfishness is ugly, Pearl."

She went to the sister and told her to give her the file. “Are you the one who called?” the woman asked skeptically. She had the file in her hand but when Kimberly tried to get it from her, she refused. “Look, I can give you how much money you want. All you have to do is give me the damn file” Kimberly asserts impatiently. The woman frowned and was reluctant. She at first refused to give but when Kimberly showed her the money, her temptation took over her honesty. “I can give you one million dollars. If you give me that file this will be all yours.”

She smiled and typed something into her computer then picked up a pen, wrote something on a paper and handed it over to Selene, then pointed at a man, who stood opposite them. Selene nodded and took the paper to the man. He glanced through it and smiled at her before leading her to where the best brands were located. “What's the name?” Selene asked. “Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It just got released and I'm sure you'll love it.” He replied and she nodded. “How much does it cost?” She asked. “$1.199.99, ma'am.” He replied. Selene nodded at him, dipped her hand into her bag and brought out her credit card. He took her to the cashier and she made the payment. After confirmation, and a few registra

she excused. It was half the truth and half a lie. She really has no time to spend it all; that's the truth. However, she has no intention of spending it after all. She has her own money in her Swiss bank account. It was all the money she gained from being an information-gatherer in the underworld. She has more money than a person could imagine. When Sherly felt that her father and brothers were not taking their eyes off her, she just sighed. "Fine, I'll waste the money. I'll ask my best friend to spend it with me."

I pulled out the second book in the series, A Court of Mist and Fury. My favourite in the series I opened it and took a whiff of the pages. The nostalgia and all my highlighted points are mostly about Rhys.
