My palms began to sweat as we sat down in the back. "Oh my God Callum, I could die right now." I whispered in excitement.

They sat in the library as the afternoon went gold around them and the book spread through the world one reader at a time and the city below moved through its October day entirely itself.

The book was no larger than Gareth’s palm, but Cassandra held on to it with all carefulness, as though it was some kind of glass that would shatter if allowed to fall. Gareth frowned when the woman started smiling to herself. She must have reached the part where the author advises the reader to smile, or he would not write the next chapter. He wasn’t sure. Most people in the Kingdom avoided any contact with the scholars. Even though they tend to be smart people, most of them are rather foolish in dealing with their fellow men. It was said that they love books more than they loved people. Some stories had also said that the scholars could go on living for days without eating anything.
