Hinampas-hampas niya iyon pero lalo lang sumisikip at sumasakit. Tumingala na lang siya sa langit, umaasa na makita iyong mukha na sobrang miss na miss niya na. Pero ang tanging nakikita niya lang ay mga nagkikislapang bituin na ang gandang pagmasdan, dumagdag pa ang nakangiting buwan. “Babe, are you up there wwith the stars?” bulong niya. “Kasi parang oo. I mean, mas maganda. Pinakamaganda ka sa lahat…”

Pakiramdam pa nga niya safe siya sa piling nito. "Matutunaw na ang langit sa kakatitig mo." Manipis na ngiti lang ang tanging tugon niya. "Tahimik ka lang talaga 'no?" Di naman talaga siya ang tipong unang nagbubukas ng usapan. "Naiisip ko lang kung nasaan ang mga stars. Mas maganda sana kung marami sila." "Stargazing fanatic ka rin?" "Ikaw din?"

"After all of this is done, we can go on our separate ways." Sumandal ako sa bench at napatingala sa kalangitan. The stars seem to dance in the velvety darkness, each one telling a story of distant worlds and ancient luminosity. The moon casts a soft, silvery glow, adding depth to the celestial spectacle. The air is often crisp and still, allowing the brilliance of the stars to captivate the senses and inspire wonder in those who gaze upon this celestial masterpiece. I am at awe but somehow, my heart is contradicting.

“Bakit kaya hindi nakaka boring titigan ‘yung buwan at mga bituin ‘no? Hindi naman magbabago ng anyo. Araw araw ay ganon din naman ang makikita mo.” Ngumiti siya ng tipid bago tumingala. “I wonder how many of these stars hear people’s thoughts at night? People talk to the moon and stars when they have no one. They’re the greatest comforters aside from your pillows that catch your tears if you’re crying.”

Marahan kong paliwanag sa kanya. I heard him sigh and return his gaze to the stars. "When will I be ok?" He whispered. "In one of those stars I shall be living...In one of them I shall be laughing... And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night." Umawang ang labi ko ng tila isang tula ang binanggit n'ya. A smile formed on his innocent face. He was still looking above. I stopped brushing his hair and just stared at him.

“You don’t trust me that much, huh?” “You don’t trust me too. What’s the difference?” supladang sagot niya. Hindi ito sumagot, tumitig lang sa langit. Napilitan siya tuloy na tumingala rin. Hindi na mag-isa ang buwan sa langit. The night sky is now peppered with stars, each taking their turns to shine. They fell silent for a while, just watching the night sky. “Have you wished on stars too when you were young?” anito, maya-maya.

I solace myself with the city lights and the stars. "Ano kayang ginagawa niya ngayon? Is he already sleeping?" I asked the stars. I smiled when I saw my favorite constellation. Images of Eros smiling flashes in my mind. I missed you, my solace. Do you miss me too? Kahit bilang cook mo na lang Eros. Kahit 'yong mga luto ko na lang ang mamiss mo. Ayos na 'yon, at least may namiss ka sa akin 'di ba?

Samantalang sila naman ng binata ay nagpunta muna sa garden ng mansyon at doon nagpahinga. Agad na tumingala si Taphney nang makita ang maraming mga bituin sa kalangitan. Tinuturing niya kasing pampakalma ang mga iyon sa tuwing naguguluhan siya. She felt ease and calm whenever she look up and saw the peaceful stars. Awtomatiko siyang napapikit ng mga mata nang maramdaman ang malamig na simoy ng hangin. Pakiramdam niya ay sinasayaw siya ng mga iyon. “You admire those stars that much, baby? That you almost forgot that I am here with you.”
