Promise Me No Promises

"Miriam, I've come to take you away as promised." he said. Seriously? After over fifteen years he had disappeared from me and now thirteen years of being married. He certainly must be crazy. What makes him think that he could come here after all these years to say that to me. I pulled my hands away from him as I glared into his eyes. "No Eli. I am happily married with kids now. You do not belong here so leave. You left me fifteen years ago." I said "Happily married? Miriam, you have been married to a murderer!!! Where do you think I have been all these years?" he asked me Miriam's marriage is just about to meet its first roadblock when her ex boyfriend who left her fifteen years ago shows up on her porch covered in mud but in the same clothes he wore when he left her years ago. It would seem that her husband for thirteen years now might not be the sweetest as claimed. And maybe sometimes even the biggest villains of our life might just be the one we share the same bed with.

What inspired you to write One Promise? You see, when I was young, life was tough. I grew up with a broken family. I never felt the love I wanted all my life. I've always love reading. That's when I found my new comfort through writing. Then I held on to it because it gave me hope. It gave me another way to ease my broken self cause I needed to. Just when I thought I already hit rock bottom with all these pain I felt ever since I was a kid, God must've still felt the need to push me more by leaving me with a monstrous dad but I saw how God changes him. So I wrote this story for my dad.
