She grabbed a handful of harsh, industrial soap, the kind that smelled like lemon and bleach, and scrubbed the wound violently.
'Hide the scent! Hide the healing!' she chanted in her mind repeatedly.
She scrubbed until the wound stung, hoping the chemical smell of the soap would overpower the scent of her blood.
Alex was there a second later. He didn't run, but he closed the distance between the both of them in two strides.
He grabbed a wad of paper towels and reached for her hand again.
"Stop scrubbing the wound harshly," he said, his voice low. "You'll only make it worse and start bleeeding out again." he said to her scoldingly.
