Roots Novels & Stories

Two hundred pounds of solid muscle slam directly into the trunk of my tree. The roots scream as they rip out of the earth. The trunk tilts sideways. Crack.

a mocking voice echoes down the hall, loud and confident, dripping with irony. “You bastard… you killed my father!” Mark yells, sprinting like a beast, his eyes bloodshot with darkness. “Eh, eh… I don’t think so,” Logan lifts an AK-47 from the ground. It’s dirty, rusty, but on the gas pistons, you can just make out a black “5” with smoke curling from it. For some reason, Mark sees it too. He freezes mid-step, and Sam doesn’t move either. I can’t comprehend anything.

As soon as we entered the place, I noticed that the mini car toys on the floor were arranged in a row on both sides of the tree towards a place and the rose petals were scattered on the floor. We continued walking until we reached the area where we practiced driving. My eyes widened when I saw that place. I saw his cars surrounding the area that was formed in heart-shaped. Because it's already nighttime, all front lights of the cars were opened. And at the center is a table and 2 chairs with food and wine. "Sweet." That was the only word I uttered. I wasn’t expecting this from Andrew at all. I looked at him still looked surprised, I saw him looking at me with a smile on his face.

What a waste of my time and energy. *** Breath Kamara. Breath. You can so do this. I tried encouraging myself as I placed my palms on the soil. I missed this. Even if I almost died because of this I still felt an undeniable attraction to nature. The white rose which I had used to discover my powers was nowhere in my room which means someone had seen it and taken it. Back to the present. I was outside in my mom's garden, crouched over the lettuce patch. I concentrated and closed my eyes as a sense of calm overcame my senses. I opened my eyes and smiled at the sight of the big lettuce.

“And the illness. Now.” Rowan sighs like we’re boring him. “It’s a refinement of wolf’s bane. Bound to a respiratory suppressant, delivered through ‘care’, tonics, oils, sachets, so no one can point to a single act and call it murder.” My skin prickles. “What respiratory suppressant.” Rowan’s gaze flicks to me. “Nightroot.” Melody’s pen scratches instantly. “Nightroot is unstable.” Rowan smiles. “Which is why it’s not alone.”

Who is it? ( Riley) It's me, Riley. (Amy) Oh, please come in. {Riley enters Amy's room} How are you feeling? ( Amy) Am okay. Thanks for the help. if don't mind but what time is it? (Riley) It's after midnight. (Amy) I see...um...can you stay with me until I fall asleep please, am a bit scared of staying by myself at this moment. ( Riley) Sure whatever you need. A few moments later she fell asleep.

Riley nodded once. “That’s actually really good. You don’t have to plan around anything—you just play.” And more importantly, it meant Abraham would always be consistent, which was exactly what Riley needed if he was going to push forward without constantly compensating for something unpredictable. “I’ve got abilities as well,” Abraham added. “Go on.” “One of them roots things,” he said. “Vines come up from the ground and hold them in place for a few seconds, especially if they’re already moving.” Riley nodded immediately.

I nodded slowly. “There’s another entrance to the Vault,” I said. “Older than the Ravager paths.” Rowan frowned. “Where.” “The burial roots.” Both men went still. Even saying the name aloud felt forbidden. The burial roots were older than the territory itself. Wolves avoided them instinctively. No one slept near them. No one hunted there. The ground remembered too much. Kairos stepped closer. “Can you lead us.” “Yes.” The lie burned immediately. The Thread punished me with a sharp pulse.

And you are never alone" and I nod at him. He gives me a big hug and I melt in it. And with that he left for some place in the world taking the heart of a 12-year-old girl. After 9 years. "Oh, hell no" I claimed as I keep the book in the shelf. "C'mon Iris" I rolled my eyes as I walk over to the counter and go behind it. "You have zero sex life, at least get a vibrator or dildo" I groaned as I bang my head in embarrassment.
