Kaela's POV I was standing in the middle of a festival clutching a stick of candied fruit, sticky and warm in my palm. Laughter and music filled the air, the scent of roasted chestnuts and honeywell bread mingling with the crisp evening breeze. It was the MoonLight festival, my favourite of all annual festivities. I could feel mom's hand in mine and dad walking right beside me. Everything was going well until the sky bled red. A horrifying roar cracked through the heavens so loud I feared it would divide the very sky. Shadows rippled across the ground as something vast and monstrous whoosed past us.

“Let’s go get cleaned up before we eat, little miss.” In the bathroom Nina stared up at me with her big blue eyes and said; “Mama, never go there again.” “Okay, we won’t. it’s a little bit scary down there. I’ll ask Kane to get us that jar for your caterpillar.” I smiled down at her. She looked at me, but as if she looked right through me, a blank stare. “Monster is coming.” She whispered, her eyes frantically moving from side to side. “Coming for Mama.”

He preferred working in shadows. We settled onto the sofas and armchairs arranged in a loose circle around the coffee table. Someone passed around plates of empanadas and mini quiches. Laughter bubbled up easily as Raina recounted her reaction to the live broadcast. "I nearly dropped my phone," she said. "When they showed Ross screaming and kicking in those heels? Priceless." Charles chuckled. "You yelled 'get her!' so loud the neighbors texted to ask if everything was okay." Mia leaned forward. "Sebastian looked like someone had punched him in the soul. The despicable memory of the terror I witnessed in ‘The Tent of Wonders' remained etched to my brain for nearly three weeks, making me lose my appetite as well as sleep. Mum and dad along with my brothers started becoming worried about me, as I hardly ate anything much during dinner and remained awake at night like a zombie, staring outside the window. I couldn't manage to remove that repugnantly pathetic image of Madam Maxima lying in her chair, electrocuted. And whenever I closed my eyes her deathly face along with the figure of that evil creature hovered in front of my eyes.

Seeing him so distressed, Serena held him and said to Celeste, "Celeste, the child must be terrified. Let me try talking to him." Celeste said nothing. Why was he scared? He said he was playing with Leo outside, and then suddenly Leo was gone. Now he was crying and upset, making his story seem unconvincing. "Lester, don't be afraid. Come, tell Grandma."
