"But first, you must promise me that you'll be careful. The shapeshifters are more dangerous than you can imagine." "I promise," I said, my words barely audible. "Good," the figure said. "Listen carefully. The shapeshifters have developed a new weapon, one that can detect humans and werewolves. It's called the 'Shifter Scanner.' They plan to use it to hunt down and eliminate all non-shapeshifters.

God knew how much she was hurt. What had I done? But, the next moment, Vitoria turned into her energy form. When she came back to her physical form, there wasn’t even a scar on her body. My jaws hit the ground as I watched this transformation. “I am alright, Alex. There is no need to worry. When Golden Shifters are hurt in their physical forms, they can change to their energy forms. Since energy forms don’t have a physical form, all the injuries heal on their own.”

He seemed to be waiting for me to talk, to scream, to run, to do anything, but there was nothing. I blinked once, then twice, then once again. I took a deep breath and tried to speak, only for my voice to come out in a stutter. "Shapeshifter?" I questioned before shaking my head at the thought that I voiced out loud. I reasoned, "No, your hand shapeshifted into a weapon. Shapeshifters usually shapeshift into living things but not objects. So how? How? I don't know anyone who can shapeshift into a weapon." Rai didn't move. He kept his distance from me, knowing that I was frightened, which I considered to be very considerate of him to do. "Can you stand?"
