Now I knew they were real, and one was here in our pack. The traitor was still here living among us, hiding where we couldn't see them. This shape shifter could be anyone, they could look like a man one day and a woman the next. They had a voice that scared me and blood-red nails that promised death to anyone who got in their way. And worst of all, this dangerous enemy saw me as a big problem that needed to be solved. A problem they needed to remove forever so their evil plans could work. I stood up from the bench, my legs feeling weak and shaky beneath me. I knew I had to tell someone about this right away. I had to warn Noah and Neal about what I had seen in my vision.

Shapeshifters. I think I've read some things about it from folklore. Like what its name suggests, they are creatures that can change forms, like how humans can shift to animals with supernatural attributes, like how monsters can take the form of humans they prey on. The most popular shapeshifters in books, I believe, are humans turning to wolves—not ordinary wolves, but usually giant wolves with extraordinary strength and have out of the world abilities. "What kind of shapeshifters are you?" "I don't think you need to know that part. What's important is, now you know that those two you see as victims are not innocent at all."

I really don't know where he's going with this. "Are you talking about shapeshifters? I read somewhere about Native Americans being able to shape-shift." He smiles slightly. "Yes, that's sort of what I'm talking about. There are people who can shift from human to animal. I'm one of those people. I can change from human to animal." Interesting. I must still be unconscious because I swear he just told me he can change from a human to an animal. If I'm dreaming, I guess I'll go along with it.

God knew how much she was hurt. What had I done? But, the next moment, Vitoria turned into her energy form. When she came back to her physical form, there wasn’t even a scar on her body. My jaws hit the ground as I watched this transformation. “I am alright, Alex. There is no need to worry. When Golden Shifters are hurt in their physical forms, they can change to their energy forms. Since energy forms don’t have a physical form, all the injuries heal on their own.”

“So, you said you saw a kid who turned into a monster. That’s called a shapeshifter." “Shapeshifter?” I mumbled as write it down in my notebook. Again, I don’t know where in the world I grabbed that. “Shapeshifters, obviously by the word itself, can shift to any kind of creatures. They have glowing silver eyes and likes to eat humans’ heart. But you said the guy you saved was no human at all. That only means one thing,” He looked at me sternly, a hint of worry glimmering in his eyes. “You just encounter a dark shapeshifter.”

Didn't he get it? "Yeah. That's why I am looking for him. Let's go. We should get him together with the others." Miriam played along immediately, not raising any suspicion. She had lived for so long and met a different kinds of monsters. Some could change into the shape and voice of someone to confuse and get you when you least expect it. This is one of them. A shape shifter. It could turn into anyone. And the most dangerous of them all. It could take your life without realizing it. It comes in the form of someone you love, respect, and obey. You could always fall victim to it at all moments.

How was it even possible something that large would fit into her narrow channel? Wait. Her channel? Unbidden the image of Mike Volka flashed in her brain, more moisture soaked her panties and heat crept up her cheeks. What was wrong with her? She put hands over Mischief's eyes. "Don't look, kitty." Jamie took a sip of her soft drink, a bite of her sandwich and chewed slowly as she turned the page. "Shape shifters mate for life, protecting their mates to the death. They have superhuman strength and senses. In human form they are distinguished by longer hair than usual on their heads, thick eyebrows and lean muscular bodies."

"This is the one." I took the book to one of the nearest tables that had a lamp attached to it. I opened it quickly, searching for the page which had listed its weaknesses. "Wait, that's the one." Ivan put his hand on the page before I turned the page again. I looked through it, reading the description. Cloudy Shapeshifters that have the capacity to shift into any living being and can take onto the resemblances of a dead person. They can take away the life of any being once they trap them in their circle of red lightning and dark suffocating clouds.

I asked. She laughed a little at that. “A default face – I like that. Yes, they have a default face. They are manufactured creatures. Shapeshifters do not exist as a species. These are the only two and only because they are the result of the use of forbidden magic. However, one isn’t like the other.” I was hooked on every word. “How so?”

I could almost feel their anticipation, their readiness to pounce, and their hunger for dominance. Within this void, fear and determination waged a battle within me. The suddenness of the shapeshifter's act had shattered the fragile equilibrium, and now I grappled with the unknown consequences that lay ahead. Yet, amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope ignited—a belief that this unforeseen turn of events could potentially work in our favor.
