She cancelled it and continued on another page. “Miss Calloway.” My head snapped up to the voice of Mr Payne directly looking at me from the front, the equation on the board unsolved. “Yes?” I gulped, shoring in my seat. “Would you like to share the answer to the equation? Or we wait while you work it out?” He asked. Whichever the reason, count me out. I almost screamed in the back of my mind. I stared down at the worksheet and frowned at the question. “Well, it’s sodium chloride,” I said.

He was tense, overthinking every step like he was calculating a math problem on live TV. Then, from the side, Night raised his hand. “Can I try?” The instructor tilted his head. “Go ahead.”

“If there was one I knew you could ace, it’s this one.” Smiling, I nodded and slipped back into work mode. Math was easy. It made sense, you just needed to know the formulas for it. The simplicity was only marred by larger numbers or fractions. All of it could easily be worked out if I just took the time to do it. I went through five scratch papers as I worked through the notebook, basically double checking my work. At some point, Caleb had come back but he still didn’t look too happy about whatever crawled up his ass.

"That is correct. But you did not show your work." "I did it in my head." He looked at me for a second longer. Then he turned back to the board. Chloe passed me a note. "since when are you good at math" I wrote back. "since always"

I shouted, "You can punish me however you want afterward. I'll also explain everything to you!" Hannah lifted my chin and wiped away my tears. Then, she pushed my face away. "It's too bad you're putting on this act too late. Otherwise, seeing you on your knees and begging like this might have made me feel sorry for you." She continued, "You probably don't know this, but I work for Gabriella now. Freddie brought me into the team. He saw potential in me and gave me a shot. Cyril went after him more than once, and now he's lying through his teeth again!
