Around us, the theater was full of gasps, shouts, and nervous laughter. Every time someone screamed, it made me jump, which made Taranis jump, which made me scream again. It was an endless cycle of terror and embarrassment.
At one particularly intense scene—a mirror reflecting a ghostly face—I grabbed his arm so hard he almost yelped.
“Hazelnut!” he hissed, “You’re going to get us kicked out!”
“Too late!” I whispered back, ducking behind the armrest. “The ghost is right there!”
