Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

Between them stands a pair of black wrought-iron gates, easily twelve feet high, their intricate metalwork as elegant as it is imposing. There is no sign, name or even a freaking mailbox. There’s nothing to suggest anyone lives beyond them. Just walls. High stone walls disappearing into the trees on either side until the forest swallows them whole. The Defender slows to a crawl in front of the gate, I search for a keypad, or an intercom. Maybe a freaking security guard. But there’s nothing, no one but then I hear it. A faint mechanical hum as my eyes center on a discreet camera, almost invisible against the weathered stone, pivoting toward us.

HIS BABY GROWS INSIDE ME, BUT HIS HEART BELONGS TO HER

HIS BABY GROWS INSIDE ME, BUT HIS HEART BELONGS TO HER

The air grew colder with each step, dense with an ancient scent rot, iron, and something else: memory. At the base of the stairs, they found the Gate. It was a monolith black stone veined with crimson, pulsing faintly. Symbols danced along its surface, glowing and shifting like fireflies trapped beneath ice. In the center, two handprints one slightly larger than the other glowed faintly. “Rowan and Elara,” Lyra whispered. The children stepped forward instinctively. When their palms met the stone, it groaned like an old god waking from centuries of sleep. The gate split open with a howl of wind, revealing a vast cavern lit by veins of red crystal.

Bonds By Blades

Bonds By Blades

Just moving. He stepped in front of Rhydian. Protective. Immediate. Like it was the most natural thing in the world. The gate reacted at once. The chamber shook hard. Cracks spread across the black stone floor like veins breaking open. Ancient symbols along the walls lit up one after another, glowing with this deep, unstable light. Rhydian tightened his grip on his sword. "Okay," he said slowly. "I really hate that thing." A hand appeared behind the gate. Human. Calm. Controlled. Too calm. Too perfect. Wrong in a way that made your mind reject it.

Return of the Nameless Alpha

Return of the Nameless Alpha

Every structure carries the look of something built to survive a siege, not to impress a garden party. Wren slows the SUV at the iron gate, where two guards in Vane gray step into the drive without hurry, the particular unhurried confidence of men who know exactly how much muscle stands ready behind them if it's ever needed. The taller one circles to her window while the second one's gaze runs the length of the vehicle, cataloging it, plates, tint, the three small heads visible through the glass. She lowers her window six inches. Cold air pours in, carrying pine resin and gun oil and, underneath, something warmer that might be bread from a kitchen somewhere behind the stone walls.

You Will Regret Rejecting Me

You Will Regret Rejecting Me

The gates were stone. Not decorative stone; load-bearing, defensive, the kind cut from a mountain rather than shaped for aesthetics. They opened inward without visible mechanism as the car approached, which meant someone had been watching the road long before the headlights reached them. Kaela noted that. Filed it.

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

Like something had convinced life to stay away. Then Eryx looked toward the cliffs. Then: "I don't like this." Then Valen nodded. Then: "Neither do I." The first sign appeared shortly before sunset. A city gate. Ancient. Massive. Carved directly into the mountainside. Then everyone stopped. Immediately. Because the gate should have been impossible. The structure was enormous. Larger than any city entrance they had ever seen. Covered in silver stone. Covered in symbols. Covered in time.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

THE ALPHA WHO REJECTED ME

THE ALPHA WHO REJECTED ME

Greaves said while closing his folder. He looked at me the way he always did before negotiations began. It was the silent request for control that had followed me through four years of assignments with him. Please hold yourself together. Cold air drifted through the open door carrying the scent of pine and something deeper beneath it, something warm and unfamiliar that caused the strange pressure in my chest to lean toward it before I could stop the reaction. The gates came into view. They were iron and ancient, set into stone that curved along the ridge as though the mountain itself had grown around them. Wolves had been forged into the arch above the entrance, their bodies frozen mid strid

Into The Woods

Into The Woods

Speaking of wild animals, she’s thankful that she hasn’t crossed one. Sierra found the gate not too far away from where she came from. The gate is made of steel and is as tall as the wall. It is thick and there’s a weird carvings. Above the gate there’s a word written in italic, it said 'Stonehenge'. “Hello? Excuse me!” she tried to look for a guard but none answered. “No one will show themselves to you,” said the late guardian of fire. “See that black gem in the middle?”

Xavier's Surrogate

Xavier's Surrogate

They passed by skyscrapers, old buildings, and fancy neighborhoods, it didn’t take long for Halle to realize that they had left the capital, and strangely enough, she had expected that the Stones would live in the capital just like the other high folk. Halle knew she was tired but she was enjoying the view, it counted as a good distraction from her nervously beating heart. Soon the car slowed down when they reached a large gate, maybe the entrance to some fancy rich people's estate of some sort. The gates were a mixture of gold and silver, the small and big metal bars intricately crafted and designed to push, twist, and curve against each other. The gates were beautiful and it made her think

Omega Or King?

Omega Or King?

He must exit via the gate to the human realm. Before him are four gates: human, supernatural, gods, and hell. Colton must choose the correct gate. I see him pause and look . Gate One has roses without thorns perfect in every way. I hear his thoughts. ‘Too perfect, my world has both beauty and pain.’ I smile. Gate two is covered in purple and gold roses with thorns. ‘Magical like the supernatural realm.’ Again I smile. Third gate burns but red roses covering it don’t. ‘Maybe but I should look at the fourth to be sure.’
