Chapter 28 The Beast Within Fiona's POV The wind howled through the clearing, whipping the leaves into frenzied spirals as I stood frozen, heart pounding in my chest. The massive, black-furred creature loomed before us, its eyes gleaming with a sickly yellow light that sent chills down my spine. I could feel its power radiating, heavy and suffocating, unlike anything I had ever encountered.

He was much bigger, and badder, and faster, and stronger than me. We both knew it. The fact that he hadn't caught me yet only meant he liked to play with his food. Tragically, I was probably no more than a mere midnight snack to him. So much for my happy ending. How horribly banal. The air in my lungs seemed to have caught fire. I'm sure I was as loud as a wildebeast thundering through the forest, disturbing all the creatures of the night as I went. If you imagine me as a delicate damsel in flowing white gown, flying across the mossy ground, do

Energy pulsed and wavered into the space between us. “I will find your sister and see if she is worth saving,” I let him know. Beckham convulsed and then suddenly went still. The darkness retreated dragging with it a phantom of dim dark shapeless light, as it returned to my feet and deposited it there, immobile. I turned to Wyatt, “The first installment of our vow,” I said. The Beast growled in approval from within the confines of Wyatt’s body, his skin bristled as he pushed back with the urge to shift.

The little shit was fast, but he couldn’t shake me that easily. A metal door of a dumpster clanged shut, but I didn’t need to hear that to know where he was. His heartbeat echoed in my ears, its erratic rhythm a testament to his fear. Yet, he had no idea what fear truly meant. He would understand, soon enough, once I caught him. Then he would face the embodiment of terror.

I paused when my fingers landed on the book I had been previously reading, the one the King had told me specifically to stay away from. Without much thought, I grabbed the book and turned to the chapter I had last stopped on, it was called soulmates to the beast. I read for what felt like hours about what the villagers thought about the beast and I found myself growing more and more afraid, the more and more I read. He had wiped out villages all around the castle in a rampage of anger, he killed thousands of people and left their bodies in the street and only stopped once the sun began to rise again and the sky became painted as red as the blood on his body.

“What does it mean? I picked up my phone and typed the word Bete, saw different meaning but the first word that popped up meant Beast. A strange chill ran down my spine. Still, I opened it. The child did not cry when he was born. The first line made me pause. I frowned slightly and leaned closer, reading again. The child did not cry. His mother knew before he ever took his first breath that something was wrong. I swallowed. The words seemed to pull me in, dragging my thoughts along with them. She felt it in her bones when he moved inside her, not like a child, but like something restless… something that did not belong.

"Is she the root of mama's curse upon me, or is she something more, sweet sun?" Somehow, the Beast's lush black fur was colder than even far flung northern Arcadia's own chilly Black Forest. I closed my eyes and leaned towards the canvas, sinking into my imagined monster's embrace. Only she who too was Death understood me – at least, in my mind of minds. I was startled awake by a sudden chill.

Isobelle I finished getting ready, then took a moment to compose myself. Madame Bennett had awakened thanks to the active werewolf gene. Someone needed to keep those wayward quadruplets in check, and my wolf side wanted to snap at their tails and remind them who she was — who I was. Their mate. Their equal. I twisted the doorknob, peeping through the crack between the wood. Bare bodies scurried past my line of sight in a blur. A distinct sign they heard me approaching. I took two deep breaths before striding out through the bedroom door. The musky essence of arousal filled my airways, feeding my confidence.

And since he had been a real-life human man, she had chalked the whole 'seeing a beast-like monster man' to a fever dream. But now, here.. Adam is a beast. Not in the insulting, he has horrible manners kind of way. But in the actual, he turns into a fucking animal kind of way! The black beast growls deep and with a heavy lunge, he attacks Adam with a heavy snap of his jaws. Adam growls as well and the two large beasts attack each other. Bella watches as they lunge at one another. Blood spurts and yelps ring out. Bella moves away from them, edging towards the house. She spots Chad standing by the counter in the kitchen and she half crawls, half runs to get to him.
