One massive paw pinned me down, crushing my chest, his fangs bared, ready to end it. My vision dimmed. Everything was fading. And darkness swallowed me whole. The last thing I heard was Diana’s voice, distant and shattered: “A BEAST! A BEAST IS INSIDE!” Then— silence.

I sank to my knees in the snow, fists clenched so tight my nails bit into skin. “Elira,” I whispered, voice barely more than air. “Please.” But the forest didn’t answer. She was nowhere. And for the first time in years—maybe ever— I was fucking terrified. My beast took over and shifted back with a snarl, bones tearing and reforming until the ground quaked beneath my paws. Then I howled. A sound that cracked through the sky and sent birds scattering from the trees. It wasn’t a call. It was a warning. A demand. A threat to whatever dared take her from me.

Chapter 28 The Beast Within Fiona's POV The wind howled through the clearing, whipping the leaves into frenzied spirals as I stood frozen, heart pounding in my chest.
