I love that she’s started calling me mother. I feel my mate and my children walk up behind me, but I keep my focus on Iniko as I step back and shift. Ancalagon steps aside, giving all of us our first real look at Eliane’s eggs. They are lined up close together in several rows carefully placed behind Iniko’s glass egg, tucked around the partial walls that still stand from the previous medical center. Iniko gives a frustrated cry as he struggles to emerge from his egg. I croon gently, encouraging him to continue fighting to get out.

However, it was not too intense and I could handle it. At this point, I noticed that Lilianna and Ivor were still looking at me. "Hey, you all right? You look pale,” Lilianna said. Ivor was still looking at me, but I couldn't guess what he was thinking. His gaze was so cold. I shook my hand away and said, “I'm fine.” “Are you allergic to eggs?” Lilianna asked. “No, I used to eat eggs at breakfast. Maybe I've been worried lately so my body has been affected,” I found a reason.

I’m standing in my kitchen in yesterday’s clothes with a plate of eggs a man I kicked out made for me before dawn, and I feel something press against the inside of my ribs. Small. Warm. New. And I don’t know what to do with that, either. I eat the eggs. Every single bite. Then I fold the note once and put it in the drawer with the takeout menus, the dead batteries, and the things I keep but don’t look at.

I added some salt and pepper, hoping that was enough seasoning, and watched as the eggs began to cook. As I stood there, I could not help but think about how much I had let Eden down. I was supposed to protect her, to be her mate, but I had failed. I didn't know if I could ever make it up to her, but I knew I had to try. Finally, the eggs were finished, and I carefully placed them on a plate, adding a slice of toast on the side. I took a deep breath, hoping it was at least somewhat edible, and made my way back to Eden's room.

Author's POV CLANK CLANK CLANK ... The noise of pots and pans falling made my spirit jump. I was feeling so sleepy after finishing the thirteenth chapter just a few hours ago. My brains refused to think further. It had been three days that I have continuously worked on my novel everytime. I would finish all the house work. Still yawning and stretching my arm, I opened the door to check what the commotion was about. Spat! An egg suddenly hit me on my forhead.

I brought out the novel that I have started reading before now, titled, "Adonis" it's a fictional story about shape shifters, although I have only read one chapter, it seems it will be an interesting novel.

Anyways, I turn back to the people and I'm just about to resume talking when I feel it, the first pelt on my trouser. I glance down at my pants and that's when I see it, the gelatinous drawl of an egg's contents as it slides down my leg. I have barely registered that when I feel the next one, a sickening crack on my right arm and then the spill of the egg. I glance up in the direction it came from and it's where the smaller group had been standing. And they are throwing more. I do the first instinctive thing I can do. I bring up my hands and shelter my head as the eggs land on me.

After the housekeeper-nanny finished cooking breakfast, I let her know that she could take the time off while we were gone, and she’d still be paid her normal wages. Her face lit up at my words. She enjoyed working there, finding us generous and easygoing employers. Breakfast was a feast: hard-boiled eggs, waffles and pancakes, and steaming mushroom soup.
