The Midnight Library Summary Novels & Stories

--- Hours Later – The Archives of Cordalis The ancient library had been carved into the mountain centuries ago—before the kingdoms, before the wars. Its halls glowed with crystal lanterns, and ancient scrolls floated midair, guarded by sentient runes and cloaked watchers. Ivy walked slowly, hand still pressed to her stomach. She felt the child sleeping now—but not peacefully. They dreamed. And their dreams bled into hers. Flashes of forgotten wars, winged kings, a woman of glass who wept rivers of fire. Lilith led them to a sealed door marked by golden sigils.

Leonidas is watching me carefully, but he doesn’t stop me. I push the door open, and I step into the cold, dark room. Leonidas is right behind me. With a book of matches, he lights the lanterns that line the walls. As my eyes adjust, I see books. More books than I could ever imagine. I couldn’t read these books in a lifetime, but that won’t stop me from trying. Stepping into the center of the room, I look up and see the moon shining through a glass ceiling. This library is magnificent, or at least it once was. It has been left to ruin.

She looked around; the place was too quiet. "They must have realized that I left," she whispered. Verena grabbed the ancient books and hugged them tightly. "I have to see what's going on, I need to," she said to herself. It was three in the afternoon, and there's no way that she'd be seeing the moon at this time. She needed a moment before she took a look at the witch's book.

The deeper they went, the colder the air became. Dust floated through the narrow beams of light. Rows of towering shelves appeared in the darkness below—filled with scrolls older than kingdoms. Secrets forgotten by the world. If answers about the mysterious moon existed… They would be hidden here. Lyra walked between the towering shelves slowly. Her mark pulsed again. And somewhere deep in the library… something shifted in the shadows. Unseen. Watching. Waiting. The Thirteenth Moon had risen. And its story had only just begun. 🌙

The guards would be here any time soon which meant there was no time to waste. I ran through the building until I got to the doors of the library. The artwork on the door never failed to blow my mind away. The design and the intricate carvings were a masterpiece. I pushed lightly and the door opened without resistance. The library was not like any other on the planet. The moonstone pack was the only pack known to keep records of historical events, and boy did we have history. The room was also the basement and it burrowed deep into the ground. The roof of the library was almond two hundred feet high and it was filled with shelves that overflowed with books. Finding anything in this place wou
