The One Within Novels & Stories

I didn't. "For what it's worth," he said, quiet, close now, "I don't think this happens twice. Whatever this actually is between us — I've been trying to find the right words for it for months, and I keep landing on the same thing. Once in a lifetime. That's what this is. That's what you are." I felt the words land somewhere I hadn't fully guarded in a long time. "Once in a lifetime," I repeated, testing the shape of it, finding that it fit exactly as well as he'd made it sound. "Yeah. I think that's right."

Dead. Crowned. Consumed. My existence fracturing into a thousand possible selves. And the thing inside me traced a finger down the cracks of my being like it was admiring a puzzle finally complete. “One body. One soul. One door.” Auren’s voice ripped me back for one fragile second. “ARIA! Don’t listen to it—fight it—fight—” But the energy exploded through me again. My feet lifted off the ground. My hair lashed around me like living strands.

The fourth was black. DEFECT ONE, the auditor said, tapping the blue sphere. LOCATION: CONSCIOUSNESS CORE, SECTION FOUR. NATURE: RECURSIVE LOOP IN THE SELF-AWARENESS SUBROUTINE. WHEN ANY CONSCIOUSNESS ACHIEVES SUFFICIENT COMPLEXITY, IT ENCOUNTERS A LOGICAL LOOP THAT PREVENTS IT FROM FULLY UNDERSTANDING ITSELF. THIS IS WHY NO BEING, INCLUDING THE UTTERANCE, HAS EVER ACHIEVED COMPLETE SELF-KNOWLEDGE. "That is not a bug," Katherine said from her holographic projection. "That is a feature. Complete self-knowledge would eliminate uncertainty. Without uncertainty, there is no growth, no learning, no change."

I feel invincible. Then the realization slams into me like a wave, and the grin slips right off my face. No. I stumble back, my heart racing for an entirely different reason now. This kind of power can only mean one thing. I rub my face with both hands, trying to scrub away the thought, but it’s lodged there now. I’m her One. I close my eyes, groaning. Of all the women in Haebradia, it has to be her? I let out a humorless laugh, pacing back and forth in the garden.

Milan still awake with noise, the stars twinkling like a restless ocean of light. From his hotel suite, Alpha Elias stood mute, hands clasped behind his back. His wolf stirred within, pacing, restless. His mind was consumed by one thought, one name, one soul. Henry.

His cock pulsed as he came all over the floor, and the Alpha grunted as he came in his pants. Ollie's chest heaved as he chased each breath. He jerked with aftershocks, and his mind reeled as he tried to wrap his head around what had just happened. Anton didn't say a word as he unhooked each strap and freed the Omega. “You may use that bathroom, but never this One. That one is mine,” Anton said, pointing to each door. Ollie didn't realize the doors were there. They blended in with the walls. The only reason he can see them now is because the Alpha pointed them out, and he can see their silver-colored handles.

That sat at the bottom of the box I can almost imagine the pain I will feel wearing that. "Well, I was not expecting this," she said quietly beside me, still entranced by the dress. A card is sitting inside the box, I pick it up and a blush crept up my face at the content of the letter.

A werewolf. Ruby knew, from Van, that werewolves could turn on full moons and only then or at least before the curse was broken but Noah was dead which narrowed it down to one person, Nicholas. "Selfish British dick...hi," She breathed out, remaining in her place as she tried to contemplate if he understood what she said and could recognize her or not. The wolf made its way towards her, confirming the crazy thought.

Flute nodded and the rest of them seemed to start worrying. "So what? We're six here inside," Ela plainly said. She doesn't understand why they seem to make a fuss about it. "In return to hearing other people's heartbeats, he can't hear his own," Black explained. Ela just raised her left brow and remained silent. "I already know where he is," Flute informed them. "He? Lalaki? Man? Boy? Guy?" Mijo asked making Ela roll her eyes once again. "Stupid, that's a default identifier. He can just count the heartbeats," she said, remembering what she heard from Black's memory.

I relied on my touch and my senses and they all pronounced one thing. I was at Fayash Memorial. Right at the entrance, with no idea how I got there in the first place. Did I... teleport?
