I frowned and tilted my head in confusion and he noticed. "What? You didn't know what will happen when the Final Mating Ritual is done? Marcus isn't very informative as he seems. As soon as you knot, you're immediately lulled to sleep, the moon shines and stars will form a crown around it and as you sleep, the spirits of your wolves come out and together they will howl at the moon and then, your bodies will be wrapped by a White Flame that symbolizes; 'As One' and it will remain so until the sun rises and a mist will surround you."

“Peace offering.” “For what?” “Nothing yet,” he grins. I narrow my eyes at him. “That isn't reassuring.” “You'll learn.” Alaric takes a bottle. “Ignore him.” “Ignore Alaric,” Mason says. “That's actually our first pack rule.” “Nice rule.” “The second is never play cards with Bastian.” I glance at him. “Why?” Bastian takes one of the bottles. “I'm good at cards.” “He counts them.” “I don't count cards.”

Even Kaya, my wolf stirs violently inside me, sensing the threat. Derek, is the first to snap out of the confusion. "What do you mean mistletoe?" Derek demands, stepping forward, protective instincts already flaring. Cyre doesn't look away from me. That look - like I know something. That I could do something. "It's a Hallucinogenic. And also a poison. To wolves," she says quietly. "Used to weaken the mind and body of wolves when inhaled in high concentration...." Derek cut her off. "I know what a mistletoe does. But that would result in a potential conflict if we mark the same place. Another rule is that we must stand our ground and not lose control. If we do, the mission will fail. And that means each of our respective houses would be losing points. We are two from Umbra houses here, that's a lot.”

My mother's car hadn't even cleared the end of Main Street before I felt the whole shop exhale around me, string lights flickering back to life like the building itself had been holding its breath. A wreath on the door, half-crooked from where my mother had brushed past it on her way out, still swung faintly on its hook, and somewhere above us a paper snowflake Maya had clearly cut herself, slightly lopsided, one point longer than the rest, twisted slowly on its string.

After the purchase of the pine, we still buy the mistletoe in the same place. The mistletoe is a plant that has oval leaves of smooth edges in pairs along its stem and we always hang it right at the entrance of the door and when two people who are under mistletoe must kiss to celebrate with love the resurrection of Balder, a Nordic god, but in fact no one in my family is a Balder worshipper, we just put the mistletoe to spread and light the flame of the couples who participate in our party.

"And I don't want you asking about my family." He looked up. "Deal." "Just like that?" "Just like that." He wrote something on his own paper. "I have additions." He slid the notebook back. How can a man not bound be so calm when he knows what's going to happen when Sharlot gets the power he possessed? Sharlot gave me a big smile, putting the vessels on top of the table, taking two knives, and placing them next to the vessels. By now the moon was shining bright in the sky. I would have shifted but right now, I had to control my wolf in order not to kill anything that moves in this house, especially Euphoria. I didn't want to spill more blood than necessary.
