-Evangeline- After the heated kiss and multiple rough mind blowing sex when he returned, Theodore became a ghost, I hadn’t seen him for over a week, he barely came home, all I ever heard were reports from Arnold or Elena relaying the instructions he would give before leaving. All I did was stay home and follow his instructions, I had minor issues with that in the beginning, but by upon receiving my father’s message Thursday morning, I was regretting every decision I'd made.

“I couldn’t believe that she died like that! She’s too young to die!” Theodore and Claudette exchange gazes and the former spoke in a low voice. “Can I take a half day off today, My Lady?” “Be sure to finish things on time.” Theodore smiled at her as he put his hand on his chest and bowed. “Yes, My Lady.” “He’s now inside the room.”

"We start with Theodore tomorrow. Tonight, we figure out exactly how deep this rabbit hole actually goes." Theodore answered his phone on the second ring, and the moment Elena explained what they were looking for, something in his voice changed entirely. "Eleanor Voss," he repeated slowly. "My father mentioned her exactly once, near the end of his life, in one of the last entries in his journal that Sophia never fully understood. He wrote that his sister had gone somewhere safe, somewhere Marcus Cole would never think to look, and that she'd taken proof with her that could end everything the Coles had built, if she ever found the courage to use it."

I was paying attention to the fact that Elijah was touching me under the table while discussing wedding venues with his father and I was about to lose my mind. "What about the color scheme?" Douglas asked. "Your mother wants blue and cream, but I'm wondering if we should add gold accents." "Sounds good," I said. My grip tightened on my fork. Elijah's foot moved higher, just above my ankle now. I shot him a look across the table. He was buttering his toast, completely focused on Douglas, like nothing was happening. Like he wasn't doing this on purpose. "Theodore seems distracted," Elijah said, glancing at me with those dark eyes. "Maybe he didn't sleep well."

“For real. And I’m sorry it took me so long to say it out loud.” Theo twisted around and hugged Sophia first, then reached for Tristan with the other arm. The three of them stayed tangled like that until the watermelon juice dried sticky on their skin. When Theo finally pulled back he was grinning. “Does this mean I get two parents all the time now? Like in the play?” Sophia laughed through the tears she couldn’t hold back anymore. “Yeah, baby. All the time.” Inside, Eleanor and Richard waited in the living room. The moment the three of them walked in, hand in hand, Eleanor stood up. Her eyes were red but her chin was high.

Soon, Andrew and Eleanor came to my house to formally propose. Theodore and I set our wedding date for early summer. On the day we were scheduled to take our wedding photos, Madeline reached out to me. She asked to meet for coffee. She looked worn out. "Nathan and I broke up." I shrugged. "You never really liked him anyway." Then, she came clean with me. "I'm sorry. Initially, I went after Nathan because of you. I like Theodore. I noticed how he always drives to school, quietly watches you, but never interferes in your life.

We drove to Eleanor’s Upper East Side mansion at eight PM. The building was exactly what I’d expected. Pre-war. Elegant. Dripping with old money and carefully maintained prestige. The kind of place that had been in the Lockwood family for generations. The doorman recognized Xander and let us through without question. Eleanor was in her sitting room, a glass of wine in hand, looking completely unperturbed by the day’s revelations. As if her conspiracy to destroy her son’s marriage was just a minor inconvenience. “Alexander. Diana. How unexpected.” She didn’t stand. Didn’t even set down her wine. “I assume you’re here about the unfortunate situation with Seraphina.”

I didn't expect to meet Leonard this way! I was nervous, I didn't know what to do at that moment. "What do we do about this?" he gestured to his suit pants that were now drenched with hot coffee…he acted indifferent, I wondered if it didn't hurt him at all. "Well, I-" "Boss, I can go get you another one from your office," Theo said as they both stepped out of the elevator. "You haven't answered my question, Amelia?" he looked at me with his left hand in his pocket.
