This wasn't over. Not by a long shot. ***********************************

“Let’s see how it goes.” That was the nature of him. Let’s see how things go. No real plans, just where life takes us in the moment. It was a nice reprieve. Partners in the past, besides Ryan, needed everything planned out and in change caused a fit that usually ended up with us cancelling the entire thing altogether. My typically need to plan everything had gone out the window months ago. I didn’t have the energy to make decisions.

'Well, this isn't how I planned for tonight to go. 'Not at all.'

Ditching my initial plan, I hurried over to him, my brows furrowing in worry. "Is something wrong?" He sighed and leaned against the car's bonnet before shrugging. "It's whatever happens in my everyday life, you know?" "And what's that?" He looked down at his phone. "I was just planning something important. There was so much to do and achieve but I wasn't unable to. I got a call that our plan didn't work." I had no idea what plan he was talking about and I also wasn't going to ask him what he meant. So all I did was bod and take his hand in mine.

It was a new plan, one that was delicious enough to cook up, and sure to satisfy. The plan I came up with was an arrow, and it wasn't going to miss. No, it wasn't.

“Shit. This was definitely not what I had planned.” I froze, face burning. “Of all people, why him?”

I stared at it, stunned. I didn’t think the plan would actually work!

My voice comes out softer than I originally intended. “What?!” “I said I’m not sure." One more time with feeling, I guess. “I didn’t have a plan for later. I didn’t think that far ahead. I was just going moment to moment. I guess I figured it would all work out eventually.” “Fucking stupid.” “What?!”

I closed my eyes for a moment, letting the weight of every possibility settle. The plan wasn’t perfect I needed another plan ASAP

I flicked off the water no closer to a solution, pissed all to hell because I couldn't stop focusing on her. I hadn't planned on walking into this shit. My time had been pretty much mapped out before I even landed, which is the way I like to do shit. And though I can and do plan for contingencies and other bullshit beyond my control, this one is getting under my skin, and I don't even want to think about why that should be.
