I spent the rest of the day in my room, and by night the packhouse was silent around me. I stood by the window, the same window Julius once found words burned across. Now the glass was clean. At least it looked that way. Outside, the world breathed slow. Inside, my reflection watched me too closely. I leaned nearer. It leaned back, but a beat late. “Stop,” I whispered. It smiled. In my own voice it said, He’s not the only one watching. A hairline crack split the glass from top to bottom, thin as lightning. I stumbled back, pressing my hand to the mark that had begun to pulse again.

I end up falling asleep to tat thought. I open my eyes and see the window open, snow and wind was flowing in. I slowly walk towards it. I look out and see scratch marks all over the window cell. I felt a shiver go up my spine, not because of the cold, but because I knew I wasn't alone.

The chair, somehow, keeps growing. I walk to the window and press my palm flat to the glass. The view is unchanged. But it does not love me back.

They need to rest, to forget about the horrors they’ve disclosed to me earlier, that our family is about to be torn apart. I know what I’m doing is risky, but I can’t help it. Without a sound, I get up and go to the window, carefully pushing it open. It’s narrow, and I don’t even know if my wolf, Ruby, would fit through. I am fairly sure I will, though. It opens into an alley between our building and another apartment building. When we first moved in here, I was worried that someone might try to break in through this window, but then I thought that was silly because you can see the window from the busy street outside and from the other apartment building. Chapter 3- A Perfect Day Drrrrr! Crash! Bang! Melo was awoken by crashing and banging happening outside his room. What kind of ruckus is happening? He thought to himself. He slightly opened his eyes but all he saw were the lights peeking through his window blinds, beaming across the room. He scooted to the other side of the bed, facing his big glass window that is covered with white blinds. Then, he slipped two of his fingers in between the blinds and allowed just the right amount of light to pass through.

I pressed my fingers on the floor, supporting myself to get up. In seconds, I was up. I looked around, and there was only one way to leave here. The window. I chuckled. A sad sound. Because there was no way I would fit in through the window. Unless… My eyes looked around… The baseball bat. I rushed to it. Picking it up, the bat connected with the glass. Shattering it. Four more hits, and I was sure I could pass through. Instantly, My head popped out of the window. But not before—

Julia’s POV Reaching my room, I leaned against the door, exhaling sharply as I pressed my temples. I entered and sank onto my bed. And for a moment, I let myself breathe. But then, a faint tink sound came from the window as I paused, my head snapping toward the window. Another tink came again, sharper this time, like a pebble striking the glass window. My pulse quickened as I stood, curiosity overriding my exhaustion. I approached the window, the curtains swaying slightly in the night breeze as I peered out into the darkness outside to see who was throwing little bricks towards my window.

Telling me to hide like a scared little girl. I paced the room, “No, there’s no way I’m going to take orders from him!” With that, I turned to the window, yanked the curtain open wider just to spite him. Sunlight poured in, warm on my face. And I smiled at my mischievousness until u heard a low hum just outside the window. It was a small back drone, it was outside the glass, close enough that I could see the tiny camera lens glinting. My breath caught. It dipped slightly, and something fluttered against my window; a piece of paper fell into my room.

It was a good thing that I left the window open so I could hear them. I shoved my blanket off my body and rose to my feet before rushing to the window. That was Jace’s car, and another one was behind his. They were back, but my room was in a position where I couldn’t see them perfectly. I rushed and slipped on my sneakers before taking one last look at myself in my vanity mirror, then dashed to the door and to the big window along the corridor. The view of the packhouse ground was not that clear from the fourth floor with the absence of lights and many trees surrounding it, but I was able to see a female stepping out of the second car.
