This place is goin' down in flames, and it’s goin' down fast. I walk back out to my bike and park it across the street, sittin' there like it’s movie night, watchin' the windows fill with smoke. The poppin' sound of bottles and wood explodin' echoes in the quiet, and I can’t help but smile wider. The fire bursts through the windows, shards of glass rainin' down, and I laugh. It’s so beautiful, so perfect.

Taken tonight. Through the bedroom window. My blood turns to ice. Under it, a new line: "He’s lying to you."

I turned and drifted slowly toward that bright light. One step, two steps. My body grew lighter and lighter. I grew more and more transparent. I casted all those painful memories, those deep, searing scars, all far behind me.

My fingers brushed the cold metal. There was no internal lock. I pushed my hand further out, scrabbling for a purchase to pull the window open. ​But the window was painted shut, sealed by years of rust and neglect. ​Two minutes. ​Thud. Thud. Thud. ​Footsteps. Loud. Heavy. Thomas was running up the stairs. ​I had no choice. ​I smashed my full weight against the window pane. It held. I pulled the heavy metal table and shoved it against the glass. It only chipped.

Elara'S POV “Good morning, miss.” Maeve brought me a tray for breakfast and quickly retreated as soon as I opened my mouth to ask more questions. I sighed. She wasn’t going to give me any answers. Alone, in silence, I ate while staring out the window. Snow drifted down with a hypnotizing allure as I watched one large, fluffy flake after another pass my window and disappear into the whiteness below. I’d tried to open it, to determine if it was a potential escape route, but it wasn’t that type of window. The single pane of glass was solidly anchored in the wall.

Impossibly,my eyes go wider and for about two minutes there's nothing but static in my brain. What.The.Actual.Grapefruit. A second later and my adrenalin kicks in,or rather screams in since the sound that tears from my throat is hardly even human.I panic,thrashing wildly,which catapults me across the room,turns me upside down and of course that's when I REALLY get into it. Im in my room- in mid air almost touching the ceiling- kicking and punching with my eyes closed,cursing a mean streak of fruit profanity.

That door is sealed shut. That thought follows me into sleep. The quiet feels peaceful—until it isn’t. I see Lucien standing outside my window. My breath catches. His eyes pierce straight through me, like he’s pulling apart every wall I built, knot by knot. He steps closer, and my heart drops in horror when he passes through the glass as if it isn’t even there. It doesn’t break. It doesn’t make a sound. His eyes never leave mine, not even for a second.

Rookie fucking mistake, I should have examined the window with more caution. Aside from finding another trap, I did learn the windows are made out of something similar to a two-way mirror or tinted windows. I can just make out my reflection in the glass, but I can’t see through it, yet I can see the light of this supposed lightning flashing inside. Iolaire walks up to me, “Find anything?” She quietly asks. “Razor blades,” I deadpan.

I only went to the stream that day I dug lilies. He looks into the window of my car, at what must be the girl's crouching form. My eyes blur and ny heart continues to thud. I don't know what to do! I can't just watch, but Hell if I want to be harmed either. I softly cluck to Creature to get him into the room. I shut the window until the gap is barely visible, just enough to hear through. Completely out of sight, I slide against the wall to grab a hanging mirror. I crawl back under the window, ducking and positioning my mirror so I can see out through it. I tap once on the wall below the window to get Creature to bark. And he does! His deep roofs carry outside and his front paws are supported

As I’m climaxing, I feel the presence of someone watching me through the bathroom window. The window has no curtain since our bathroom faces the woods behind our house. The window is just high enough to only show my shoulders and head; I put my hand on the window to wipe away the fog caused from the hot steam. I didn’t realize before I started to really look around in the backyard that my wolf Mia started helping me see through the darkness with wolf vision. I see eyes in the woods glowing silver looking up at me.
