Through My Window Book Series Novels & Stories

I blew away the dust on it and ran my palm over the hardcover. "Encyclopedia on mythical Creatures" I said aloud as I read the title that was written stylishly. I walked over to the large window that would block the views of others from me yet giving me a perfect view of anybody that would come in. With a huff, I raised myself up and placed my bum on the cold stone and dropped the book on my lap.

I spent the rest of the day in my room, and by night the packhouse was silent around me. I stood by the window, the same window Julius once found words burned across. Now the glass was clean. At least it looked that way. Outside, the world breathed slow. Inside, my reflection watched me too closely. I leaned nearer. It leaned back, but a beat late. “Stop,” I whispered. It smiled. In my own voice it said, He’s not the only one watching. A hairline crack split the glass from top to bottom, thin as lightning. I stumbled back, pressing my hand to the mark that had begun to pulse again.

* My power coiled itself inside me as I read more and more myths on the infamous Northern Whispers as I sat in the bay window which housed itself in the quiet library; one of the only places I could go to finally be alone and nestled in between the pages of a book made everything feel even better. My baby seemed to sense my hand as it gently kicked, both Cassandra and I smiling with such glee that my face almost hurt and while my brain started to wander off in daydreams about having a child, something passed by the window so quick that I almost questioned myself if it was real or not.

I didn’t even know where I was going—just that I needed to move. I found myself in the old library on the east wing, the room that smelled like cedar and paper and whispered memories. There was a large window there, overlooking the garden. I pressed my forehead to the glass, trying to ground myself. But even the moonlight felt wrong. Too cold. Too watchful. I turned to leave— —and froze. The window lock was undone. My heart shot into my throat. I hadn’t opened that window. No one had. The security detail knew better than to touch anything in the protected wings without clearance.

Staying in the dark is as much pain. The elder was in front of me, but he was really never there. I lung again, and the book slipped away from his grasp. Thud. The book hit the floor sharply. And as if being controlled by some mystic forces, the wind blow in stronger from the single window in the room and the pages fluttered open. Luna Jasmine: The betrayer of the Lunarstrike pack. What? A lump formed in my throat. My mother's name was there. Just right there, clear and undeniable. Then my eyes shifted to the next line.

Casey P.O.V It was Sunday morning, and the sunlight streamed gently through my window, casting soft, golden shadows across the room. The faint chirping of birds outside my window added to the serene ambiance. I stretched lazily in bed, savouring the quiet, before finally pulling myself up. Another day, another routine.
