“So what was so important you forgot about breakfast?” “You are,” I answered, and though he looked taken aback, he remained silent. Usually, he’d take the opportunity to flirt and try to say impressive words, but right now, he just watched me. Then I told him everything that had happened last night at the bookstore and how I ended up with the books in my hand. “So you saw a ghost?” he asked with narrowed brows. I shrugged. “I don’t know what I saw, but the woman that gave me these from the store didn’t exist according to the salesgirls, and these books that the woman brought from their store didn’t belong to them.”

“Yes, such a lovely gift I’m blessed with. It is very honorable to become a wraith of mine. Right as the host dies I collect their meager little souls and give them a new purpose.” “How can they join the stars without their soul?” I utter completely flabbergasted. His smile broadened, “They don't. If my wraith dies then the spirit is released and they join said stars.” He waved his hand as if waving the thought away. “My Love how are you faring?” I swallowed unable to dismiss the idea of those poor spirits locked away from the afterlife. “I… I’m well. The view is lovely here.” I changed topics quickly.

Even if she did, she'd blame it on the wind. "Ghost?" Sharon was becoming concerned, "I thought you don't believe in such things?" "Really? Oh, em." Geneva cleared her throat and spoke confidently, "that's true, I am not scared by flimsy things such as ghooosts!" The last word Sharon heard was the word 'ghosts' being screamed into her eardrums before she heard nothing else. The phone had fallen and disassembled and the call, disconnected.

I spent the next few days learning the purpose of and how to use the equipment that Nora had purchased in preparation for our taking on the paranormal. I found it both interesting and frustrating. There were gadgets for almost everything one might imagine, such as electromagnetic detectors and thermometers. Apparently, ghosts use electricity to help them manifest and, when they do, the temperature in the room will change even if you can’t see them. Being a skeptic at heart, I found the equipment both interesting and amusing.

Warmth surged throughout his body as it slowly took on a solid form and he could feel the wetness of the water on his skin. He leant forward from behind her. "Thank you..." he whispered in her ear. At the same time, a gust of cold wind brushed past and fluttered her wet hair in mid-air. She froze at the sudden abnormality and crossed her hands over her exposed chests. Her body trembled when a pair of cold arms appeared out of nowhere and wrapped her slender waist from behind. From the dimmed reflection on the glass, she could vaguely see someone with long hair and a muscular body; smiling at her. Her face turned as white as the white sheet. Is that the female ghost she saw last night?

Gideon lets out a barking laugh but doesn’t say anything about the bed or the collection of whips and things on the floor. Ghost is standing right outside of the bedroom door; he’s so close that Gideon almost slams into him, but Ghost seems completely unbothered. He’s got a massive smile on his face and he’s holding out a velvet blue box while looking directly at me. “Glow worms shouldn’t be this happy.” I mutter, which only makes Ghost smile more and Gideon laugh a little as he steps to the side. I watch in horror as Ghost drops to one knee, holds up the little velvet box and bows his head so low I can see the back of his pale neck.

I sat there for a long time, trying to digest everything. It turned out my ghost housemate used to be a legend at the company that I now worked at. I shut my laptop, my feelings all tangled up. I asked, "So, you're only stuck here because of the car accident… Is that it?" After a long silence, Ivy's voice echoed faintly in my head. It was soft and almost drifting. "It wasn't an accident." My heart lurched. Before I could ask anything else, her voice faded away.

“Ghost.” My body stiffens immediately.

Long black hair cascaded down her back, grown almost past her waist. “Ghost.” A gravelly voice replaced her usual musical one. “How am I here?” “You were lost. We found each other again.” “How long was I lost?” “Four months.” “Oh, Ghost. I’m sorry.” “You’re home now.” When the last of the conditioner rinsed out, I turned off the water and escorted her out. Dry and clean, we dressed, and I carried her downstairs. “Daddy, I’m sorry. Ghost said I was lost.” “Your witch severed the mating bonds, and your wolf took over,” Doc added.

TAYLOR’S POV “Okay so on the trip to the frost mountains, we… em, me and the ghosts, we stopped at a field covered in flowers. We are so tired we had to take a rest there. One of the ghosts told me a story about the place…I don’t remember it anymore but I know I didn’t believe him but I know he said something that was kind of describing this world. I know I fell asleep. The flower made me fall asleep then I woke up here.”
