she asked him. He grinned. "I have reservations in St. Bart's." She shook her head. "I should have known." "Should have known what?" he asked defensively. "That you'd have some amazingly fabulous plan for the holidays," Maggie answered, rolling her eyes. "Aren't you going to Rhode Island or something?" he asked, nibbling a curly fry. "Nope, I host the Annual Orphans and Misfits Christmas at my place," she said wryly. "Orphans and misfits?"

I grabbed the hem feeling the gorgeous velvet. “Wow” I glanced at Sera with her grinning triumphantly. Even though it would be her birthday every year she insisted I dress up and get presents too. Her reasoning was that was the day I came into the family so it was kind of my birthday as well. I had tried to explain to her that my birthday was later in the year but she would not listen. Now, I guess it had become somewhat of a tradition. “You are going to look like a real princess EmEm”

While not having Shamus and Evan with us was a bit of a downer on our traditional holiday hangout, I was still having fun with Dervila and Iver. We were up to our usual antics of joking about some of the weird stuff people bring to the market and gushing over the stuff we loved. Plus, all the shopping. I brought gifts home for my family, including little mementos of New Haven, but those don’t count as Christmas presents.

12. Eva's Pov. The air inside the sex building hung heavy with the scent of pine from a half-hearted Christmas tree in the corner and something muskier, more primal. Chloe linked her arm through mine, her excitement buzzing like the holiday lights strung haphazardly across the ceiling. I tugged my coat tighter around me, the chill from outside still clinging to my skin despite the warmth inside. It was barely a week and some days to Christmas night, and here I was, stepping into a brothel to chase away the forbidden thoughts that had plagued me since I knew my best friend's father…since it became intense.

She remembered that she would come there to shop when the next holiday came. There are a lot of Christmas decorations there. Rain almost forgot that Christmas was just around the corner. Winter was Christmas, but she was too busy with work to forget all that. "Jace, look at that Christmas tree. It's huge and very tall." Rain pointed to a Christmas tree on display in the middle of the mall's ground floor. The top of the tree reached the fourth floor where they were currently standing. "That's a ridiculous thing. Do you always want things like that every peak winter?" quipped Jace.

After breakfast, I wander around the city for a little while, looking at shops and doing my best not to think. The Christmas decorations are out on display and it's easy to lose myself to the green and red of the season. I don't buy anything. I'm a ghost just floating through the city, trying to figure out what to do next.

Arthur and I join the others in the living room, where a beautiful Christmas tree stands, twinkling with lights and ornaments. We gather around, everyone smiling and chatting, waiting for the clock to strike twelve. There’s a sense of anticipation, and I can feel Arthur’s hand tighten around mine. Finally, the clock strikes midnight, and a cheer goes up. “Merry Christmas!” everyone calls out, exchanging hugs and kisses. Gifts are passed around, and the room fills with laughter and joy. After the gifts are exchanged, we all raise our glasses for a toast. Arthur’s father, a kind man with a twinkle in his eye, leads the toast.
