SKYLER’S POV After falling asleep thinking about my mother, I wake up the next morning from a restless sleep. I didn’t get more than an hour’s sleep at a time due to my nightmares. I haven’t had the nightmare about the rogue that killed my mum for nearly four years, but last night he kept coming back. The difference with last night’s nightmares was that each time I woke and then went back to sleep, the rogue kept changing, first one was of the original stinky brown rogue, in the next one the rogue was my dad attacking me, then it was James. In each nightmare, the rogue changed and I would wake up just before they killed me, as in my dreams there is no one there to save me. The next one was E

he said. I wanted to believe him. I needed to believe him. But belief didn’t stop the nightmares. That night, I barely slept. Visions twisted through my mind like smoke. I saw blades dripping with blood, wolves howling in agony, the moon blackening above a battlefield soaked in ash. I woke gasping, my throat raw, and my body damp with sweat. But it wasn’t just a nightmare. It was a warning. And the moment I sat up, heart racing, I felt it.

I went back to my bed and finally, I also felt drowsy, I hope I don't have nightmares anymore. MAXIMUS WALTER SKYLER P.O.V I stayed here in Freeda's room, earlier I heard her screaming. We all woke up and we all went inside her room. She has nightmares and can't sleep. I sat in the chair and I was drowsy, I felt like I was asleep but I never forget to watch Freeda. He was lying on her bed, I opened my eyes and stood up. I walked over to the bed and checked to see if she was asleep. I took the blanket and covered it here. I saw that she was cold, I could also hear that she was snoring. I just shook my head and went back there in the chair. I will not get out of here until morning.

His hot hand presses against my clammy forehead. I don’t bother asking what he is doing and keep my eyes closed. Trying to ignore the electricity of his touch and the burning in my back, I eventually drift off to sleep. Tonight it wasn’t dreams that came, instead nightmares plagued me. The same image over and over. The menacing look on Ryan’s face as he killed my parents. “Aria, wake up, it’s a nightmare” His voice was distant, far away. “Aria, wake the fuck up!” The nightmares fade as I wake. Blinking several times as Ryan’s face comes into view, but he startles me. My hands automatically lash out at him, only claws had appeared in place of my fingers.

“After you finish eating, get some rest. A long journey awaits us in the morning.” Ayla glanced at the bed. “It’s hard to rest when you have nightmares.” “You have nightmares?” he asked. Her gaze found his. “Sometimes. Do you?” He nodded. “What are your nightmares about?” They ate in silence for a while before Ayla replied. “Galian. My father. The death of my mother and grandmother. But the most frightening thing is a scream I keep hearing. And you?” Rhobart clenched his jaw. “Dinner is not the right place to talk about my nightmares.”

"Please don't leave me." Tears running down my cheeks as I ran after the figure that was quickly out of my sight. My little legs helpless to catch up. The darkness scared me, I hugged my bear bear tightly and squeezed my eyes shut. "Elora. Elora. Are you ok my dear." I woke to someone shaking the shit out of me. Sitting up in the strange bed and taking in my surroundings. I must have had that dream again. They were getting pretty frequent now. They never made any sense. The person leaving me was a blur. I had no idea who or where it was. People told me it was just a dream but it was always the same.

His face and the insides of my old house started fading away. Everything around me soon turned black. I jolted awake with a gasp feeling someone shaking my shoulders with urgency. I was met with Ryder’s face leaning above me. My body shook uncontrollably as I gasped for air. My heart was filled with tremor. I glanced towards the door. I turned to look at Ryder. I wanted to warn Ryder about my father being downstairs but I frowned when I saw the darkness that enveloped the sky outside. It was still night time. Recognition dawned on me when I realized that it was just a nightmare.

I flop down on the bed and close my eyes, allowing the exhaustion of the trip and then the quick run to the border and back again that I just did take me into the darkness of nightmares. I wake with a start from my nightmare and rub my hand up and down my face. It is the same nightmare I have been having since my father killed my mother. It keeps reminding me that there was nothing I could do to save my mother, and it brings out the fear in me that I will not be able to save Aurora, either.

Another three days passed, the girls were still in the witch's home. It was like time was crawling as the days felt longer and the nights felt shorter but longer for Skylar actually as once again, the nightmares haunted her and this time, it wasn't a creature with blood, it was a child. A wailing child, crying for help, wanting his mama and papa to save him. Skylar woke up every night from the same dream for the past three days, giving her sleepless and long nights.
