Beneath Blood and Water

Beneath Blood and Water

she called out to the cubicle behind, her tone drawling 2 parts sarcasm 2 parts amusement “Like what?” a muffled but nasally voice said from inside, if the woman in black concentrated she could hear the shuffling of clothes. “Like whether you’re pregnant, are you giving birth right now and not telling me” “You know I can’t handle dairy” the voice called out aggrieved The woman softened but rolled her eyes, “Yet you a certified dairy resistant human being still took all that ice cream like it was the last food in the planet” “I will rather die than give up ice cream” the woman with wolf ears cut in “That could be a possibility”

The Butcher - A Mafia romance

The Butcher - A Mafia romance

“Quit while you’re ahead, Butcher. You know what happens to snitches…” They were mauled in the street, on the way to the car after a nice meal at their favorite restaurant, in broad daylight in the midst of afternoon traffic. Stabbed with knives from every direction, they would have thirty knife wounds before they hit the street—and the attackers would blend into the crowd. There were more codes than mine. “So, you do know him?” “If you wanted to play poker, you should have brought the cards.” I smirked slightly at the joke. “I’ll find him.”

Helpless as I was, I felt that the world would be better off without the butcher guy in it, so when Zuomin spoke of his grand plan and how he had win, I fixed my stare at the butcher and almost prayed for an opportunity to get my hands on him. So, it happened that either my prayers were answered by God himself, it was just a fucked up karma thing, Zuomin was done blabbering and he ordered the butcher guy to finish us all off, the butcher, excited as a child told to play a game, he quickly went to work on the two guys before me, I could have swore he was in a hurry to get to me, he smirked at me when it was my turn and slowly swaggered towards me, brandishing this sharp, large cleaver.

Ghost Chefs

I replied my pen at the ready to note down whatever useful information she was about to divulge. “May 9th, 2016," she began. "I interviewed William Warren who works as a Pastry chef at the Walters restaurant located at Walkers street," she paused for a minute and I wondered if something was wrong. Then she exclaimed. "Yes, that's the name of the restaurant! Walters,“ she said. “Walters? I have never heard of it before. Does it still exist?“ I asked her, scribbling the name down so I could make further research on it.

I called while he replied from inside of the house and made himself visible. “There’s no water in the house, please go and fetch some water” Ikem did not complain he took the gallon and went off to fetch water, I was surprised that he had obeyed without complain, I kind of expected some resistance. I finished preparing food and served Ikem some then took some to Mama. “Am not feeling hungry” mama sighed.

My Professor Is My Alpha Mate

My Professor Is My Alpha Mate

“He’s still professional and continuing to be Lila’s professor is against school policy.” I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat. “Enzo,” Beta Ethan said as he walked into the kitchen. “I just got word from some of the pack members. There’s a flood at the butcher shop. The meat has been contaminated.” “I’ll head there now and assess the situation,” Enzo said, nodding to his Beta. “Appoint some warriors to do some hunting so we can restock the butcher shop once the flooding is stopped.” “On it,” Ethan said, turning away and leaving.

After leaving a review for the "prequel" to this I realized I never reviewed this book!! I really love this book, and how much you can really feel for the characters and the amount of unexpected turn of events is extremely intriguing and captivating (I'm usually good at predictions lol).Must read!

Readers can’t honestly engulf in the story. Although we appreciate the author, only 1 chapter is uploaded PER DAY with a 1-2 minute read. It’s frustrating when you’ve breezed through a book, and are so hype for it, & all of the sudden hit a wall. The stop & go is upsetting not suspenseful. Loses us.

Legacy of the Wolf

Legacy of the Wolf

Outside Mj was doing her best to level her anger and nausea while she cleaned bird nests and egg leftovers out of the sign letters above the butcher shop, she so very much just wanted this day to end but unfortunately she still had her shift at the bar. “Luckily Lou was sending her home after this so she could take a much needed shower and she would even have a few extra hours to herself before she dove once again into the pit of other people and their bullshit” she thought.

OMG this is an amazing book! I never write reviews on this app, but I had to for this book. I want this in print form so I can read whenever. I'm so invested in Mj's life. I cried, I laughed, sometimes so hard that I would wake up my guy. I will binge read it again when the second book comes out.

I laughed, cried, got mad, and had to remind myself I was reading a book. I became quite engrossed in the story and characters. Your descriptions allowed me to “see” the story vividly in my minds eye. Thank you for sharing your brilliant imagination and for having the courage to publish your work.

I stumbled upon 'The Butcher' a while back, and it left such a vivid impression that I had to dig into its origins. The author is Jorge Salinas, a Chilean writer who blends gritty realism with almost poetic violence. His work isn’t widely translated, which makes finding his books a bit of a treasure hunt—part of the fun, honestly. The novel itself is this raw, unfiltered dive into crime and morality, set in Santiago’s underbelly. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re into dark, character-driven stories, it’s worth tracking down. I ended up ordering a used copy from a specialty bookstore after weeks of searching, and the wait totally paid off.

Salinas has this knack for making even the most brutal scenes feel strangely beautiful. His prose is sharp, almost cinematic, and he doesn’t shy away from ambiguity. 'The Butcher' doesn’t spoon-feed you answers—it makes you sit with the discomfort. I’ve since read his other works, like 'Crimson Shadows,' and they share that same visceral quality. It’s a shame he isn’t more famous outside Latin America, but then again, discovering hidden gems like this feels like being part of a secret club.
