“They died ten years ago,” Julia continued, her tone calm but her eyes glassy. “A ghastly motor accident. It happened on a rainy night, on their way back from a business trip. I was waiting for their call that they’d landed safely, but the next call I got was from the police.”
She paused, her voice trembling slightly. “They didn’t survive. And as if that wasn’t enough, a year later, my husband passed away. Cancer. He fought hard, but the disease won.”
