Aria: Scales of Love
I didn’t hold anything back, letting the words spill out in a rush of anger and hurt and sorrow.
She listened, her expression a mixture of sympathy and outrage. When I was done, she reached across the table and took my hand, her touch a warm, solid anchor in the storm of my emotions.
“Oh, Aria,” she said, her voice a soft, soothing murmur. “I’m so sorry. He’s an idiot. A complete and total idiot.”
“But he’s my idiot,” I whispered, my voice a hoarse, choked sound. “And I love him.”
“I know,” she said, her voice gentle. “And that’s the problem. Because when you love someone, you give them the power to hurt you. And he hurt you. Bad.”
