Why Do I Smell Blood In My Nose Novels & Stories

My muscles ache with exertion, but I love the way it feels. By the time I stop, my hair is matted to my forehead with sweat, it’s not my body that forces it but my senses — specifically, my sense of smell. The unmistakable metallic scent of blood floods my nose. I look around, trying to see where the source could possibly be. In the area I’ve stopped in, the trees aren’t as sparse and the rocks are larger so there are hiding places for predators and dead bodies alike. Just from scent alone, the amount of blood that’s been spilled must have resulted in someone’s death.

Never-ending. My chest beat faster but the flow from my nose was quicker. Unstoppable. I thrashed tissue paper soaked in blood left and right, filling up the bathroom with them soon. "It's not stopping. Why is it not stopping?" I snapped, grabbing a handful more tissue papers.

I tried holding it in, but as the smell filled the room, it became unbearable. "What is wrong with me?" I thought to myself. "I need to go see a doctor soon." I dashed into the room in search of a nose mask and found one in my bag. I secured my nose with it and went back into the kitchen to finish the cooking. The nose mask didn't block the smell entirely, but it was manageable.

I think you need some sleep. ME: Goodnight. As I’m about to switch off my phone, a drop of red liquid lands on the screen. I frown and touch my nose with my fingers. Then I glance at my fingers. Every instinct I had, both human and animal, were screaming at me to get as far away from this place as possible. The antiseptic stench of this hospital is making my stomach turn. It smells like cheap floor wax and something that I can't quite put a finger on, but horrible. I claimed, which made her wonder for a moment while tilting her head in confusion. “How do you know that there is something there when you can’t see it clearly master?” She solemnly asked, which made me stop. I didn’t think of anything that would help me answer that as I shook my head before sighing deeply, “I have a very high sense of smell, which is why I could smell some fresh blood and someone approaching us,” “Someone? It’s not an animal?” She looked like she wondered for a moment. Before I could answer her, I smelled it again.
