I whispered, fear and panic beginning to surge within me. "You can’t see in the dark, Kiara. You were born like that, a price for your gift of healing." He said, walking towards me.

Slade immediately left for the bathroom. Daxiel walked over to Arya and sat in front of her. He picked up the spoon and held it out to her. Arya didn't take it. "My hands are injured. I can't feed myself. You have to do it," she said. Daxiel glanced at her bruised hands, and a cold glint flashed across his eyes. I keep going until the document is nothing but a handful of white scraps. I open my fingers. The white pieces flutter down to the marble floor. They land on Marcella’s damp skirt.
