Elsie's Pov I adjusted my breath, which felt difficult and rather short. I slowly tried to sit up and leaned against the headboard. It's been a few days since I woke up with a strange feeling. I felt very uncomfortable with the condition of my heart, which kept beating with a fast rhythm. Something felt very uncomfortable inside my chest and made me confused. My heart, which was pounding to the point of making my chest ache, sent another uncomfortable feeling to my stomach and then affected my hormones, which made me feel uneasy and agitated. I didn't feel fine about my condition, but something was bothering my mind more.

~*JUNE*~ What the fuck is wrong with my heart? Why can’t it stop beating so damn fast? Ever since I left Mr. Macaulay’s office, it’s been pounding against my ribs like it’s trying to break free. Each beat slams through my chest like a freight train barreling downhill, completely out of control, with no brakes and absolutely no signs of slowing the hell down. I swear to God, I’m starting to think I’m about to have a heart attack.

It made me feel highly discomforted with my body gradually starting to act kind of funny like it usually does sometimes in situations like this. My heart's pounding so fast and loud right now and I can't seem to stop it from acting disoriented. I can't tell if Gordon can hear how loud it was beating because he's still staring at me, even though I was looking away and trying very hard for our eyes not to meet. He seems like he's about to drop another comment, probably about how loud my heart was beating as if it was going to rip out of my chest anytime soon if I don't find a way to get it to calm immediately.

My body is vibrating from something I have no control over, my stomach is rumbling as if my intestines are cutting off and my throat is burning from every saliva I gulp. I roll over to the other side of the corner and face the wall. I then let go of my knees and I wrap my arms around my stomach tightly as my heart frantically starts to race, threatening to burst out of my chest. Every breath feels like I am gasping for air, never getting enough into my lungs. It is a suffocating sensation that overwhelms me.

My breathing had become heavy with my heart pounding fast. My arms were trembling and there was some kind of bizarre uproar in my belly. No, it wasn't butterflies in my belly. I could feel a rumbling and churning in my guts but it also definitely didn't seem like hunger. Or maybe it was hunger after all, hunger for something that's not food.

The doctors said her body would heal with time. But this pain felt different. It was not sharp like a cut. It felt deeper. It felt strange. It felt like something was vibrating under her ribs. She moved around on the couch with an attempt to ignore it. Then it happened again. A faint sound. Whirr….click….whirr “Oh my goodness…” Anna said while she pressed her hand harder against her chest. Her heartbeat felt strange. Too steady…too perfect. Almost like a machine instead of a heart. She sat still and waited.

Was something wrong? I took another shaky breath, trying to steady myself, but the pain kept pulsing, making it harder to focus. My heart was racing, and my legs felt weak beneath me. I didn't know if I should call out, or if I should just try to wait for it to pass, but I couldn’t do either. Finally, I managed to straighten up a little, still holding my stomach, hoping someone would notice me. My mind raced, and I tried to push down the fear that was threatening to overwhelm me. This wasn’t good. Not good at all.

There was no sign of shyness at all! "Are you kidding?" she asked, feeling like she had been deceived. "I'm not. I really am shy," he said seriously. He took her hand and placed it on his chest, right over his heart. "Can you feel it? My heart's beating really fast..." She stared blankly. Beneath her palm, she could feel those subtle heartbeats, one after another, through the skin and bones. It's only possible to feel a person's heartbeat like this if the person's heart was beating very fast. If it's calm, you wouldn't feel it at all.

He looks up from the laptop he had been typing on. "Hey, baby." "Hey," I say in response. I take the sit beside me. It is far from him, but I want to admire him from afar. I never get to do that. I also don't want him to notice how fast my heart is beating, or how badly my hands are shaking. The crumpled paper is safely tucked in the back pocket of my jeans. She gently stroked her chest with one hand with the other on the table supporting her as she tried to steady herself. It was an unusual sensation that had been happening recently, but the frequency was increasing rapidly. Sometimes, Heather even felt her insides churning, like something was about to break out. She thought it was a sign that her inner strength was about to improve, so she did not pay much attention to it and tried her best to take slow, deep breaths to ease her discomfort. However, this issue happened too frequently and was especially bad today. It felt like there was a heavy stone pressing down on Heather’s chest. She felt like she was suffocating. She was standing upright,
