Novel & Cerita Winter World

One bright morning, Rowan looked at Caelum in my arms and said gently, "When you grow up, the two of us will protect Mommy together. We’ll be her knights." In that moment, I felt like the happiest person in the world, wrapped in a love so deep it filled every part of my life.

"Aiden! Pull back! You’re going to lose yourself!" But Aiden couldn't hear him. He could only hear the sound of the world slowing down, the molecules locking into place, the frantic, terrified heartbeats of the men standing in the entryway, now frozen in mid-stride. He took a step forward, and the concrete floor beneath him shattered into a thousand diamonds. He wasn't a man anymore. He wasn't even a monster. He was the Winter, and the city of Oakhaven was about to learn the price of its curiosity.

Ten years passed. For long-lived werewolves, it was the blink of an eye. For Axel, it was 3,650 days and nights of burning in hell. Under Axel's rule, the Shadowcrest pack swallowed every neighboring pack and became the sole power across the wasteland. No one dared speak the name 'Seraphina'. No one dared to approach the tattered tent at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where snow and wind never ceased. It was forbidden ground, the den of the mad wolf Axel.

“You okay?” Wendy stared out at the passing scenery. “Turn the AC up. It’s cold.” Austin reached to raise the temperature. “The samples for the design contest arrive tomorrow. Wanna check them out?” “Yeah.” Wendy nodded, still a bit dazed, as though she had not fully processed everything. The light turned red, and the car stopped. Austin spoke again, “Wendy, whatever you do, I’ve got your back.” Wendy turned to look at him. “You know what I was thinking when I took apart my mom’s wedding dress?”

I had no idea the Winter Games were a thing. Apparently they were a big thing. A wolf tradition. A yearly event where the entire pack gathered to celebrate winter by using snow as a weapon, ice as a hazard, and competitive spirit as an excuse for everyone to behave like lunatics. Elara woke me before sunrise by jumping onto my bed. “Aveline. Get up. It is Winter Games day.” I groaned into my pillow. “I do not want to play anything before breakfast.”

Winter tightened its hold over Blackthorn. By the middle of the season, snow blanketed every road, every rooftop, and every forest. Smoke curled lazily from the chimneys of cottages across the kingdom, while frozen rivers glittered beneath pale winter sunlight. Though the cold was fierce, the people welcomed it with warm hearths, shared meals, and the comfort of knowing that their granaries were full. For the first time in many years, winter was not a season of survival.

Although the situation was urgent, he still forced a kind expression onto his face. "Connor, you know I value you. "As long as this contract can be renewed, the villa I promised you still stands. "Do your best. Don't disappoint me." I waved a hand and gave a mocking laugh. "Please don't. Chairman, I wouldn't dare accept it." My gaze swept over the guilty faces of Lydia and Ryan. "I'd hate for someone to say I was dreaming again." The chairman frowned, obviously not understanding what I meant. "What nonsense is that? When I, Wallace, give my word, do you think I'm just making empty promises?

Then the lack of game in winter makes them have to be able to make the best use of the preserved meat. Winter is very extreme in this world. Not only can the temperature reach extremely low. Disasters in the form of storms also often occur. Of course, both of these conditions will make it difficult for anyone to move. That's why hunting is very difficult to do during winter. The situation will be worse if a long winter period that can last up to two years occurs. At that time, there will most likely be many casualties. Just surviving is very difficult, and it will be worse when there is a threat of invasion from destructive clans who take advantage of such crucial moments to attack.

They made ready for the long night of winter, but while in the previous years Melissa had tended the fire and kept the girls warm in her wolf form and William hunted for game, now they had to tend the fire alone when their father dared to venture into the storm. This winter was particularly harsh. Shrieking winds clawed at the boards that shielded the windows and moaned through miniscule cracks in the walls. Huge drifts of snow soon piled up, blocking the doorway to the little wooden house, and preventing William from easily leaving even for more firewood. He did his best to keep a little tunnel tramped down along the side of the house to the woodshed but the swirling snow seemed determined

Therefore, winter is when the market blooms the most. The markets also serve another purpose in winter. Just like in other places around the world, Many activities cease in winter, including school, and certain jobs. Because it's a season when the wolf packs become more vulnerable to attacks from outsiders and each other, wolves living outside the realm or outside their packs usually return to help safeguard their territories. The market is where these wolves go to sell things from other realms and share the stories of their time there. With many wolves having nothing to do except sleep and patrol duties, many would head to the market daily to socialize.
