That's all” Hazel's eyes zeroed in on me, and if the look on her face hinted at anything, it was the fact that she was staring at me like I'd just told her the moon was made of cheese. “I've seen werewolves loose control, Lyra.” She let out slowly. “That wasn't a second. It was a crack, and a really deep one. Lyra, I know what I saw, what I heard too, and you're shaking like you just saw a ghost.”

Nova's POV "Get her," The head guard instructed the guards, and they all charged at me. I smirked as I watched them approach me with weapons in their hands. My wolf roared in anger, wanting to take control; without much hesitation, I allowed it to take full charge. My fingers spread wide as the first guard stopped in front of me, trying to hit me with his claws,ws but I was faster as I pressed my claws into his neck. He fell to the ground groaning in pain. Two other guards ran towards me while I moved speedily over to them, passing through their middle and sing my claws in their bellies with my claws; th; theyo fell to the ground.

Then his glow faded, his fangs retracted. Forcing myself to appear nonchalant, I scoffed. “You scare me, please.” I brushed past him, walking deeper into the woods. A lie, but a necessary one. Vulnerability coursed through me I was utterly alone. But.. How many of them were hiding in the shadows, waiting? Obviously wolves from my grandfather’s pack… traitors right under our noses. helped. And it attacked with renewed fury. The Council was watching. Controlling them remotely. And they just gave the command to kill me at any cost.

Then another distant howl rolled through the dark, and the smile faded. Are you safe? I typed. The dots appeared. Vanished. Appeared again. Yes. I didn’t believe that was the whole truth. I wasn’t sure wolves did whole truths when they were bleeding. The next ten minutes stretched thin as wire. I checked the locks twice. Then the windows. Then the back door again. I pulled my cardigan tighter around myself and tried not to stare at the folklore books. Even though I was struggling and felt like I would die walking, I went over to the gray wolf and hugged its paws to keep it from falling completely. As soon as I turned around, I heard a loud growl, and when I looked back, I saw the black wolf running toward me. He used his paws again to scratch the back of the black wolf, causing it to stop and lie down on the ground.
