Wolf At The Door Novels & Stories

I tried not to wince at the sight of their mangled bodies as I moved forward to the door. I touched the metal handle and breathed a sigh of relief as I scanned the next room through the small window. Surprisingly, no one was there and I gave a triumphant s

Dook turned toward the glow, staring into the narrowing gap of the door. - Another burst of power, Alud quickly to the wall! commanded the librarian. Alud quickly pressed himself against the wall next to Duk, breathing heavily. The door practically closed, several powerful streams of fire managed to escape through a narrow gap, dousing the werewolves with heat. The door finally closed, with a slight click of the internal lock. A small shudder ran through the walls, caused by a powerful burst of fire from the body of the Volkodlak. In a moment, everything was silent, only breathing and the crackling of the torch in Alud's hands.

Clearly, the witches meant to keep our kind out - or they were keeping our kind in. Closing my eyes, I beckoned my wolf to stand down, but his rage fought with my mind and he refused to leave. I willed him to understand that he wouldn’t make it through that door alive, and his mate needed him alive if she had any chance of survival. He stood down, taking his dark fur with him and allowing my human form to come through. I looked at my bare hands, where my left hand was scorched and red, and knew that I wouldn’t be able to touch the door like this.

Her eyes stayed fixed on the door handle, which hadn’t moved, even as the wood beneath it started to splinter. “I don’t know,” he confessed, hesitation thick in his tone. His hand slowly moved toward the silver letter opener, his grip tight. Before he could step forward, the door shattered inward, the deadbolt snapping like a dry twig. A massive black wolf burst into the living room. It was as big as a small horse, with fur as dark as a starless night and eyes glowing like molten gold. The creature skidded across the hardwood floor, its claws carving deep gouges into the polished wood. It let out a snarling growl that filled the space, a warning sound that demanded submission and vibrated de

The impact of half a ton of muscle and fury rang like a thunderclap. Metal groaned and bent, the doors buckling under the wolf’s assault. Sparks flew as hinges tore free. Inside, the howls rose to a frenzy, clawing at the walls like animals that had smelled blood. The door collapsed inward.

She muttered. The wolf huffed as if it was amused; it actually rolled its whiskey colored eyes. Then it stood and walked to the door. Rushing to the door she pushed back against it, using her weight to try to keep the animal out. “No, I’m not going to let you in! I’ve had enough wolves trying to bulldoze my life into what they want!” She grunted as she leaned all her weight against the door and tried to find a lock or something heavy to help her keep the wolf out.
