Chapter 34 RAGNAR The wolf lunged at me with teeth wide open, aiming for my throat. I caught him with my claws before he touched me. I dragged him close and snapped my jaws down. One powerful bite tore through bone and flesh. His body ripped into two pieces, blood pouring down on the ground. I spat it out and turned, my heart beating like war drums. Ryder was on the other side, fighting. Two wolves pinned him down. His fur was soaked with blood. He tried to fight back, but his claws were weak. His breathing was broken. I could hear the faint thump of his breath; he was close to death.

Ryder loosened his hold on him, so he pushed back against him. The two wolves circled each other. Ryder howled and lunged but Velkan dodged to the side, leaving him with the opportunity to swipe claws on Ryder’s side drawing blood again. Strike two, this was too easy, he thought, third strike and this fight will be over. They tumbled on the floor, claws clashing when Ryder used his fangs to sink into Velkan’s side, tearing off his flesh. He pushed him off, whimpering in pain on the floor.

Ryder shouted. Kai pounced first, his wolf sinking his fangs into the creature’s shoulder, his jaws clamping down with bone-snapping force. The vampire shrieked, stumbling, but before it could react, Finn leapt from the opposite side, his claws tearing into its gut. The beast’s movements became sluggish as the twins’ attacks overwhelmed it. “Finish it!” Ryder barked. He lunged, his form shifting fully into his massive black wolf. With a snarl, he sank his jaws into the vampire’s throat and ripped it out, the creature’s final screech cutting off into silence as its body crumpled lifelessly to the ground.

"Grrrrrr." The snarl vibrated through the concrete floor and the chassis of the iron chair Sora was bolted to until the screws groaned. Vardan stepped over the wreckage, his long fangs dripping predatory saliva, ready to rip apart anyone who dared stand between him and his own. The aura radiating from the wolf was so potent several technicians collapsed into immediate shock. Aidan stepped back, reaching for a short silver weapon at his waist, while Elior aimed his automatic rifle at the massive wolf without a moment's hesitation.

The muzzle of the wolf, grinning and splashing with saliva, clicked in the face of the man, while Ar chuckled contentedly, throwing off his turn. - Well, shall we dance? - mocking, repeated the words of Mark. “Let’s dance,” Mark repeated, stretching his lips into a bloody smile. I instantly pushed the dead man off me and sprinted away as Alex threw the vertebrae away and held off the other three wolves, one of whom looked like he wouldn’t get too far as a bloody puddle formed under him and he eventually turned human, dropping to the ground.

While gathering the dried branches, I heard a small rustle. I pause for a moment as I try to feel the environment that I am in. My heart is beating so fast and my hands are trembling, I think I know what is the reason behind the rustles. When I turn around, I saw a huge werewolf who was about to hit me with its sharp claws when Rendall suddenly ran towards me and stabbed the werewolf on its right leg. Whining in pain, the werewolf howled and tried its best to run away. “Are you okay?” Rendall asked and looked at my whole body trying to look for wounds or scratches, he sighed when he found nothing.

I thought it was weird that he was talking to a wild animal and it was listening to him. Then I remembered the wolf at the mayors. Did the people of Arthforde keep wolves as pets?

Rudina stood up and got a jacket. “I’m coming’ Rudina said as she got to the door. She took in a deep breath as she was about to open. “ come on let me do it” Volk said already at her side.
