Ava's POV: I picked out a thick leather bound book from the shelf. Its black rough surface was covered with dust. Wiping it with my palm, I looked at the title. Senex Animarum. Once again, I felt the frustration gripping my insides. Every single book in this place was filled with a language I didn't know. I should've taken French this semester. But this language looked nowhere near French. I opened the book and looked at the worn out dust-filled pages. There were diagrams. And foreign words.

I found myself trapped in their game, my eyes not able to tear away. The other option was reading the words I had for the past sixteen years. The book was worn out as my soul yet still I clutched onto it. I finally forced myself to open the cover and run my eyes through the words. None stuck as much as I tried but I pushed on because I would never forgive myself if I forgot even a single word in it.

Wendy asked. "It's what the book says. The words were shown to me before the book appeared before me. That light took me behind. Let's see," she said, immediately turning to the first page. This book was not a book. It was some kind of processor. Like, I never knew the underworld had twenty first century techniques. The writings weren't fixed, rather they dispersed into thin air and then fresh characters appeared in the book. It was like a movie to me. No, not a movie: it was like magic to me.

"The back?" The only books at the back were the books about blood wolves. It didn't relate to me in any way. 'Check' the voice whispered insistently. I stood up ready to leave the library but I heard the sound of something falling at the back. I was going to check it out when I noticed a book I didn't put on the center table, open. I approached it cautiously. It was one particular page. 'Finding a blood wolf' the page described blood wolves and the powers they possessed but never stated anything about finding one. At the bottom of the page, I noticed words written in bold cursive letters.

My eyes swept over the books in the massive shelves, before falling on five words on the side of a certain book. “Coalition of Animal and Spirit.” My eyes lit up in excitement. The name sounded magnificent to me ears, and pricked on my curiosity. Standing on my toes, I drew out the heavy, ancient-kissed, gray-coloured book and placed it on the nearby table, after walking up to the shelf where it was situated. Due to how spaced the passage was, it was very highly ventilated, regardless of the amount of shelves around. I drew out a chair and fell to it, lazily. Then after lowering my head, I read aloud the massive words on the book cover, once again, “Coalition of Animal and Spirit.”

He closed his painful eyes, took a deep breath, opened his eyes and took the book in his hands, using the magic words linked to him by Malison. "Hurry, let's go!" He called out to the girl who struggled to get back on her feet. Green light flashed in his mind, then a purple smoky glare, then the familiar sound of the words zipping through his head as they sought for a possible route to escape. "Please can I come along too?" The others at the Alphas' feet beckoned to join in the movement and they sprinted out of the palace. As I fingered through the book, with no title, words began to glow and singed onto the worn parchment like magic. Inanna had stirred and I could feel the Lycan blood in me shift, each drop moving and flowing like lava through my veins and my eyes lit up like beacons absorbing the words from the page. It startled me and I dropped the book to the floor. As the thud of the heavy leather hit the floor and echoed throughout the endless room, books started flying off the shelves, pages fluttering towards me in a whirl of turbulence, surrounding me like a twister.

“It's settled then, let's begin.” **** Vanessa, Xander, Kaida, the council members, and I all gathered around the stone table as I finally reached out, held the bomb then placed it on one of the stone tables. The moment my finger touched the book, the glow intensified and I felt a wave of energy surge through me. A calm breeze blew in the chamber, flipping the book open on its own. The pages fluttered rapidly before it settled on one particular one. The words were written in a language that I didn't understand. Strange symbols filled the page and were moving like they were alive.

Sunlight streamed through the stained glass windows, casting colorful patterns on the polished floors, as if the very essence of knowledge danced in the air. I wandered through the labyrinthine aisles, my fingers lightly grazing the spines of the books, their titles whispering promises of hidden worlds and forgotten tales. The hushed whispers of other visitors and the soft rustling of pages enveloped me, creating a symphony of words that stirred my soul.

“Kaszalo.” He sighed, cleared his throat. “Most people look at these and assume, as we do, that all of this is nothing but paper and ink.” He scanned the shelves, the volumes. “What they don’t know is these books have a life.” His eyes slowed, pausing on the antique letters stamped on the battered spines. The different heights, widths, colors. “Books are never just books. Never just paper, ink. Dust.” He looked at her. “These stories mean something. Even if those who told them disappeared long ago, these words are their voices, their lives. Still. “And there’s nothing worse than robbing someone of their words, right?”
