The Reset
It’s nearly 11:00 PM on the night of Day 6.
"It doesn't all come back at once," he explains, his voice heavy with the weight of the secret. "Every time this happens, the brain rebuilds itself in stages. You won't fully remember the last seven years until midnight on the seventh day. It’s like your mind has to be sure you can handle the pain of the accidents before it gives you back the joy of the marriage."
"Midnight tomorrow," I whisper.
"Midnight tomorrow," he repeats. "The reset officially ends. You'll be twenty-five again. You’ll know my name, you’ll know our house, and you’ll remember why we decided to keep fighting."
