But what no one knows is that he is in fact the strongest existence among all werewolves — a wolf favored by the Luna Goddess. Before her death, his mother earnestly warned him never to reveal his secret, or it would bring mortal danger upon him. He is bullied and rejected within the pack, yet he keeps his promise to his mother and never reveals even a trace of his true power. Until the mysterious Lycan King appears…
ดูเพิ่มเติมI woke up with a sharp kick on my buttock.
"Get up, lazy bones."
Beta Arthur's familiar voice cut through my sleep before I could even open my eyes.
I groaned quietly, stretched my arms lightly and pushed myself upright on the narrow cot. The servants' quarters were still dim, with only thin streams of morning light slipping through the cracked window and before I could gather my thoughts, Arthur's imposing figure came into focus.
He stood at the doorway with his two arms folded on his chest, and his expression was as cold and unreadable as ever.
He simply stared at me for what felt like ten seconds
The silence was suffocating and almost made me out of breath.
"My chamber, then Alpha Leo's." He said at last.
Without another word, he turned and walked away.
I released the breath I hadn't realized I was holding.
Every morning began with orders, but Saturdays were the worst.
They were the days I cleaned the Alpha's chamber.
Most servants dreaded kitchen duty.
I dreaded that room.
But this Saturday was different. The entire pack had been thrown into chaos since word spread that the Lycan King would be visiting Shadowclaw in one week's time. Every hallway echoed with hurried footsteps and anxious voices. All the servants had twice the work.
So maybe, just maybe, Alpha Leo would be too busy to notice a lowly omega like me.
I quickly washed, grabbed my mop and bucket, and made my way through the frantic movements on the long stone corridors of the pack house.
The castle was already alive.
Servants hurried past carrying polished armor, embroidered banners, and crates of supplies. Warriors crossed the halls discussing patrols while maids rushed between rooms with fresh linens.
"The royal chambers still aren't ready."
"I heard the King travels with twenty Royal Guards."
"They say he never stays in one pack for more than three days."
Whispers followed me wherever I walked, so I kept my head down. It was easier that way because no one expected anything from an omega and no one looked twice at one either. Or so I thought.
I stopped outside Alpha Leo's chamber, balanced the bucket in one hand and I knocked lightly on the door.
There was silence.
I repeated the knock again, this time a little louder, I waited. Still nothing.
Assuming the Alpha had already left for the morning meeting, I carefully pushed the heavy door open.
The regret hit me instantly.
"What the hell!"
Alpha Leo's furious voice exploded across the room.
He sprang from the bed, fastening his belt hurriedly around his waist.
Beside him, Luna Ema gasped and disappeared beneath the blankets, clutching the sheets tightly against herself.
"W-What..." My words caught in my throat.
"An omega?" Luna Ema exclaimed, her face burning crimson. "How dare you walk in here!"
"I'm... I'm sorry..." I stammered.
My eyes dropped immediately to the floor.
If embarrassment could kill, I would already be dead.
My grip tightened around the mop handle until my knuckles turned white, hoping it could make me disappear somehow.
"Why didn't you knock?" Alpha Leo demanded.
"I did, Alpha," I answered quietly. "Twice... but there wasn't any response."
"Then you wait," Luna Ema snapped before he could speak. "You don't simply walk into your Alpha's chamber."
"I was instructed to clean it this morning," I whispered. "I never meant to intrude."
A heavy and uncomfortable silence settled over the room. I wished the ground would swallow me whole.
"Leave." Alpha Leo said calmly this time, but somehow even more intimidating.
"I-Yes, Alpha."
I bowed quickly and scurried out of the room like a mouse. The door clicked shut behind me.
Only then did I allow myself to breathe.
"This day couldn't possibly get any worse," I muttered.
I was wrong.
Arthur's chamber stood at the opposite end of the corridor.
I hesitated going into the Beta’s chamber next but I needed to. Standing in front of his door, I tapped on it. I made sure to hear a response this time before I walked in.
"Come in."
He responded almost immediately and I went in.
I stepped inside. The room was spotless except for the neatly folded clothes resting on the bed and the faint scent of cedar lingering in the air.
Arthur stood before a mirror, adjusting the knot of his dark tie. He caught my reflection.
"You're late."
"I'm sorry," I replied. "I was coming from Alpha Leo's chamber."
"Save your excuses and get cleaning."
His tone was sharp enough to cut.
"Yes, Beta Arthur."
I immediately lowered my head and set to work.
The room remained silent except for the sound of the mop gliding across the polished floor.
Arthur finished adjusting his tie, slipped on his coat, and strode toward the door.
A moment later, it closed behind him.
I let out a relieved sigh as the tension left with him.
For the first time that morning, I could actually breathe.
Grateful for the brief peace, I dusted the shelves while I hummed quietly to myself.
Then—
The door slammed open. I jumped.
Arthur stood there once again. He hadn't left after all.
He simply stood in the doorway, watching me.
There was something different about his gaze.
The look in his eyes made my stomach tighten. It wasn’t anger this time, neither was it irritation. It was intense and I could feel it, but I couldn't understand why he looked at me the way he did.
“Is…is there anything I can help you with, Beta Arthur?” I asked slowly and quieter than I had intended.
There was a pause. He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he took one slow step forward.
Then another.
Then—
“Yeah..” He responded, calmer than usual.
“There is, Lucien.” His eyes were still fixed on mine.
He stepped forward, slow at first, then faster.
I barely had time to react before the distance between us disappeared. His hand cupped my jaw; it wasn't harsh, but it was firm enough to hold me in place.
I drew in a shaky breath.
“Beta...”
The word barely left my lips. Arthur's eyes searched mine for the briefest moment, almost as though he was asking himself whether he should stop.
Then whatever restraint he had shattered.
His lips crashed against mine, kissing me with a fierce intensity, pouring every ounce of aggression into it. It was neither gentle, nor hesitant. It was sudden, desperate, like something he had held back for too long. I froze.
My mind went blank. As much as I wanted to pull away, shock left me rooted to the spot, and little by little, my resistance crumbled. The warmth of Arthur's lips, the strength in his grip and the overwhelming closeness all hit me at once.
It shouldn't have happened.
Nothing about it was supposed to happen.
How was I lying? I thought to myself I stared at the King, confused by what he'd meant. I had told him the truth. I genuinely didn't know whether Alpha Leo had a habit of punishing people before investigating their offences or was he referring to something else? "I don't understand, Your Majesty," I said after a brief pause. He studied me for a moment and scoffed. "Perhaps lying was the wrong word. You did answer my question but you also didn't tell me what you actually wanted to say." I got the memo. He wanted me to tell him my own side of the story. What was I supposed to say? I was tired of defending myself to people who had already decided I was guilty? Well technically, he wasn't one of those people. At least not yet but I no longer cared whether Arthur admitted the truth because his betrayal had taught me exactly where I stood. But at the same time I couldn't scrub lavatory floors for the rest of my life so something needed to be done. Nothing I say would change
I returned back to my initial position as I heard footsteps approaching. The office door opened, Arthur stepped out and our eyes met instantly. There was uncertainty in his expression. He knew. He knew I'd heard but neither of us spoke and he walked past me without another glance. "Lucien, come in." Alpha Leo's voice called. I swallowed the lump in my throat and stepped into the office. The Lycan King stood beside the window, one hand resting behind his back. He hadn't left. I immediately lowered my head. "Alpha." Alpha Leo studied me for a long moment. "Someone made a serious accusation against you." "I know, Alpha." "I will ask you once and only once…" His voice was calm. "...speak your truth. Tell me what truly happened." I replayed Arthur's words in my mind, I replayed the incident that’d happened and how I rejected his advances. But instead of speaking, I kept mute. I knew too well, the truth no longer mattered. Whatever I said now would sound like the desp
The voices welcoming the Lycan King echoed all over Shadowclaw as I stepped out of my room.Servants hurried past with trays of food and wine and warriors lined on both sides of the path leading to the Sacred Grounds. The entire pack buzzed with excitement."Lucien!"I quickly turned to see Mira hurrying towards me. "There you are," she said, slowing her pace. "I've been looking everywhere for you.""I could say the same.""I'm sorry…after they took you to the recovery room, the head cook gathered all the servants in the kitchen. None of us were allowed to leave.""I figured." I nodded. She looked me over carefully."How do you feel now?""Better."She sighed but didn't argue. "Come on, we'll be in trouble if we arrive late."Together, we joined the crowd gathering at the Sacred Grounds. By the time we arrived, almost the entire pack was already there.A loud horn sounded and the massive gates creaked open. The Lycan King entered with his Royal Guards.Every wolf lowered their head im
I saw her again, I saw my mother. The memory was so vivid, almost like it was yesterday—but it wasn't.Ten years had passed since that night. Ten years of pretending to be weak and ten years of silence. It all came flooding back.“Lucien… listen to me carefully.” Tears filled her eyes.“Mother, what’s wrong?” She reached her trembling hand to touch my cheek.“You must never show them what you are.”I frowned, “But I’m just an omega.”Sadness flickered in her eyes for a brief moment.“No...” she whispered, “...you are far more than that.”She lifted her gaze slowly toward the moonlight shining through the window. “The Luna Goddess chose you.”I gasped as I awoke from the wolfsbane haze. I bolted upright, pain exploding through every part of my body.A groan escaped my lips before I could stop it. I looked up, the ceiling above me was unfamiliar. White linen curtains swayed gently beside an open window, carrying in the scent of herbs and fresh air. It took me about a minute to realise I
