Chapter 4.

Lillian had woken up before the dawn of the day and due to the way she had slept without eating last night, her stomach kept rumbling throughout.

She had to wake up as early as 5am and get something to eat before she passed out. Then she quickly got out of bed and tiptoed to the kitchen, not to wake anyone up.

Nora came back from the club very early in the morning, and she was trying to get some sleep in the other room, which was smaller and to the comfort of only one person.

Lillian peeped around like a thief and moved to the fridge. She opened it swiftly while flicking her eyes to the items inside.

She rested her hand on a can of milk and then sighted some cupcakes inside. Her mouth felt watery with the sight of it, but something was telling her not to take a bite.

Her stomach rumbled again, reminding her of how hungry she was. And before she could stop her hand from moving into the fridge, she found herself taking out the cupcakes.

She took a bite and noticed how sweet it was, and then she began to munch on it, while eating three out of it.

And even when she tried to keep some of it in the fridge, it felt impossible. And she finished the whole cupcakes.

Immediately, she heard the sound of shoes clacking on the floor. Lillian turned and met Nora, who was staring at her with beady eyes.

It was at that moment, Nora noticed the plate Lillian was holding, and before she could say a word, Nora rushed to her and grabbed the plate from her hand.

Lillian, who had no idea what was happening, looked at Nora angrily. “And what is the meaning of that?” Lillian questioned, her voice rising a bit.

“Don't tell me you ate the entire cupcake. I had kept it inside the fridge for a reason.” Nora yelled, her jaw clenching. She moved to the fridge and opened it, but her thoughts were right. “Do you just go around, eating what belongs to other people?” She fired.

“I had no idea they were yours, I was so hungry.” Lillian tried to explain as she tried to pick up the can of milk, but Nora jerked her hand away.

“Not in my dreams, I won't let you take a sip. I intended to eat the cupcakes when I woke up. Do you think it was a charity cupcake where you can just eat everything without asking?” Nora hollered and closed the fridge in an aggressive way.

“Nora, I understand perfectly that you are angry, but you don't have to yell at me like I am your child.” Lillian warned, obviously getting pissed too.

“And what will you do, huh? I have every right to yell at you, the last time I checked; you didn't contribute to a single thing we kept in the fridge. You only eat while we work.” She spoke and Lillian felt the rage flowing through her.

“So this is what all this is about, right? Are you indirectly mocking me for not having a job?” Lillian fired and Nora crossed her hand.

“Call it whatever you want, Lillian.” Nora said with a bitchy attitude and Lillian stepped closer to her.

“Ladies, please, for heaven's sake. I am still trying to get some sleep. Why can't you two just behave normal for once, huh?" Mila cried out and moved closer to the ladies, who seemed like they were about to rip out each other's eyes.

“You better be careful with me. I will make that mouth of yours bleed.” Lillian warned Nora in a strict tone, and Mila yelled her name.

“I don't know what the tension is all about, but it seems like you two are at fault. Just apologize and let's live in peace.” Mila pleaded, but Nora scoffed.

“I can never apologize when the person at fault hasn't said that yet. She fucking ate all my pancakes.” Nora added with a huff.

“And I can't apologize to someone who doesn't deserve it. Mind you, Nora; I'm going out tomorrow to find a job, so you don't have to rub it on my face.” Lillian spoke in a rapt tone and began to leave the sitting room while Mila kept calling her name.

“Did you mock her about being jobless? That's not cool, Nora.” Mila whispered, but Nora narrowed her eyes at her.

“Don't lecture me like a child, okay. If you want to side with her, then go ahead.” She chipped in and rolled her eyes while walking out of the sitting room.

Mila sighed and shook her head. “I doubt if these two would ever get along.” She whispered.

Lillian laid silently on the bed while Nora's words made her feel like a complete loser. And then, she began to blame her parents for trying to control her life.

“If only they weren't selfish. Then she would still be at home until she gets a good job, and rent a house later on with her salary.” She mumbled in annoyance.

But now she was stuck there with someone she loathes. Right from time she knew Nora has a bad mouth but to worsen it, this was her home and she would say whatever comes out of her mouth.

Lillian knew she did wrong by eating the cupcakes, but it wasn't intentional, and she decided not to sit back and act like a pushover.

She won't just relax at home, she was going to go out later on in the day and try getting a job. She was going to make Nora see the difference between them-Lillian whispered while staring at the ceiling.

Just then, her phone began to ring, and she grabbed it from the drawer, she noticed “mom” displaying on the screen, but she sighed and dropped the phone on the bed.

Are they missing her already? They should wait a bit more because she has no plans of returning home-she muttered.
