I won't spare you, Lorenzo

For some minutes, she freezes on the spot, her world crashing down on her feet and her eyes becoming heavy. His words ring in her head, as she tries to comprehend what he just said. She bats her eyelashes a few times, trying to wake up from this nightmare of hers, but it dawns on her that this is the reality that she needs to wake up to. Alpha Lorenzo just rejected her.

"Wh...what are you saying?" Amid the murmurs from the crowd, her voice quivers as she slowly drags her feet out of the crowd, not breaking eye contact with him. She feels her heart pumping heavily against her chest like it would pop out anytime soon. She keeps gulping down nothing.

"You heard me, Iris... I reject you!" His voice sounds cold as he spells the words to her again. A dry scoff tears through her throat and she pinches her skin under her long purple gown, and this is reality. It doesn't look like a dream.

"Why?" Broken, she finally manages to ask after two minutes of staring at him with tears in her eyes. Her lips tremble as she gulps down another lump that just formed in her throat.

"I thought you loved me..." A confusing scoff tears through her throat as she asks almost in a whisper, but loud enough for everyone to hear her. At this point, all of the werewolves present stare at them as though they're staging a drama. The alpha has been single for years, why would he reject his mate after finally finding her? That is the question that almost all of them keep asking themselves as they stare in shock.

"Love? When did I say that? I never said I love you... What were you thinking, Iris? That I'll stoop so low to be with a maid like you? Do you think that I'll accept the fact that you're my mate, just like that? No!" Anger resounds in his voice as he roars. His body trembles fervently in anger like he should grab the priest's throat and slit it for pronouncing a mere maid and also a stranger as his mate, or maybe killing her on the spot would calm his anger. They have been together for so many years, but what gave the moon goddess the audacity to do this? No! He will never accept it.

"Yo...you..." Slowly, she raises her hand and points her index finger at him, her hand trembles as she smiles. Behind her smile, lies the pain she wasn't expecting. This is unbelievable. She can't help doubting if this was the man she was with moments ago. The man that did nothing, but praises her body, the man that sounded like she was the only woman on earth. What has come over him?

Staring at her with adrenaline pumping inside him, he slowly clenches his fists as his palms become sweaty. Beads of sweat form on his forehead, and he grits his teeth. Alpha Lorenzo has been known to be the most powerful man that has ever existed, he is feared by all, and he has only one rule, 'never mess with him'. The werewolves that have messed with him in the past are now living six feet under the ground. For someone who's this powerful, he deserves a mate that'll almost equal him in power, not a mere maid that can't even stand to protect herself. It's an insult to him, and the whole of the Grave Claw pack.

"Three years... Three good years, Lorenzo... How dare you!" She finally speaks up after a few seconds of silence, her voice is surrounded by a dark and intimidating aura, which even the alpha can't decipher where they're coming from. Her eyes hold so much danger and anger, as she clenches her fists beside her. Her body feels as though it was set ablaze, as she feels her blood boiling in anger and regret. Did he use her? They have been having sexual affairs for three years, how dare he reject her now?

"Say a word again, Iris..."

"Or what? What will you do, Lorenzo?" Her voice cracks as she drags her feet further, glaring hard at him. At this point, she doesn't care about whatever happens, her life doesn't matter to her anymore, if there's anything she would ever do, it is to stand here and watch this man humiliate her so badly, even after everything that she has done for him.

"Iris!" He roars and grits his teeth. He's taking all his patience to hold himself back from hurting this lady, and she better not push him beyond the limit. No one has ever talked back at him before, how dare she?

"Kill me? Well, go ahead and slit my throat. You have done worse, Lorenzo..."

"What were you thinking? The sex? You thought that there was something special about it? Come on, Iris... We were just having fun, and nothing serious..."

"We were having fun for three years?" She repeats amid scoff and bites her lip. She's confused as to how to react to this. Will charging at him and strangling him to death right in front of his people be the best decision? What will she do to vent this pain out?

"You're a stranger to me, Iris... You don't even know who you are... You don't have a life, how do you expect me to accept you as my mate? How do you expect me to accept a stranger to rule my kingdom with me?" He scoffs unbelievably, as the corner of his lips slowly twitches into a smirk. He's not going to get mad at her for talking back at him, but he'll surely zero her to nothing.

"You knew that all along and..." She stops and bites her lip as more tears find their way out of her eyes. Her heart wrenches in pain. Maybe she would've been somewhere better or who knows, maybe a place worse than this place, if not for her horrible fate that lead her into this mess. Maybe she wouldn't have been humiliated like this if she knows where she was from, but still, it was never her fault that her life ended this way, right? It was never her fault that she can't even remember anything about her past, right?

Just three years ago, she has woken up in this pack to strange faces she has never seen all her life, she knew nothing about her environment and it was difficult to fit in, but somehow, she managed to. She embraced her fate, and lived with it, but turns out that she made the biggest mistake of her life.

"And I was still sleeping with you, right? Is that what you want to say?" He finally helps her to complete her statement. The werewolves present can't help wondering what's going on. The alpha they grew to know would've sent her to her grave, so why is he being like this?

"You were just lucky to be one of my concubines. How dare you think that you have a place in my life, Iris?" His voice echoes in the air, as he finally walks down the stairs that lead to where she's standing. His eyes not leaving hers.

"Too much confidence hurts sometimes. You should learn not to put too much expectations on anyone. This is always the case," Stopping in front of her, he whispers those words to her, and she clenches her fists.

Hearing those annoying words from him, her eyes suddenly darkens and she feels like she just broke out of shackles that have been used to bind her for years.

"And I'll make sure that you don't live to tell the story, Lorenzo!" She roars, grabbing his neck and flipping her across the hall, landing him on the wall.

"I won't spare you, Lorenzo!" She roars before she finally charges at him...
