The night was windy, cold and foggy. My Dad drove through the mountain road, flickering a glance at my mom, brother and me at intervals.

"It's Christmas time, honey. What should we get for the season?" My mom asked with a bright smile that unmatched my dad's indifferent frown.

He was troubled. The weary look in his eyes blended well with his frown which my mom didn't notice.

"Let's get a chocolate fountain, Mom," my twin brother Kyle beamed. We were just six years old and almost coming of age for the mating ceremony.

It was today and we were going to the venue. There was a rumor about us being the gifted twins in a prophecy of doom. And at the age of six, we would find our mates.

My mom saw it as a blessing but it was a curse to my father. However, they both showered us with unconditional love and promised to protect us regardless of the prophecy following us behind.

Dad took a turn, slowing down his speed as he reached the gateway.

"Honey, did you bring the tow ticket? I think I left mine at the house," Mom said, searching through her purse.

"Let me buy a new ticket. I didn't come with mine," Dad muttered. He got out of the car, crossed out to the other side of the road where the ticket machine was.

I stared out the window, watching him as I counted my breaths. Something bad was about to happen. I could feel it.

The silence of the night grew more intense each second and before I could count my ninth breath, a truck crashed into our car.

My mom screamed in shock, as our car tumbled to the side of the cliff. Everything happened in a flash. My ears became a tuned to a painful blurring sound.

When I opened my eyes, all I saw was blood gushing out of my dying mother's neck. Her eyes were sorrowful and dull, life slipping out of her slowly.

"Mommy." I cried, trying to reach out to her.

"Mommy." My brother called out with a cracked voice. He was injured by the side of his head and bleeding from his mouth.

"Run, Kira. Don't look back, mommy will come and get you," she managed to stutter even though her eyes held blame in them.

I cried unable to abandon them but my mom yelled then muttered a word that set me free from the car seat belt.

I crawled out quickly and went to search for my Dad only to find a man stabbing him continuously with a sliver dagger. My face paled with horror as the scene played before me.

"Daddy..." I cried, catching the attention of his attacker.

The man covered in a black hoodie turned to me, my dad's blood dripping down from his dagger. He began to take heavy steps towards me with a killer gaze that scared me.

I stumbled to the ground, my heart racing in fear as he got closer to me. As he was about to lift his hand to hit me, my father grabbed him from behind groaning in pain.

"Run, Kira. Don't look back. Get out of here!" He screamed struggling with the man.

I got up from the ground and ran towards our car but before I could reach it, it exploded sending me off the cliff.

"Wake up, Nina!" A voice yelled and my eyes flung open.

"Oh my goodness. You have to get rid of this your night or you will get us killed." My cell mate Lilith complained.

I was covered in cold sweat, my chest heaving up and down as my body trembled from the nightmare.

Another nightmare that I couldn't remember once I woke up.

The chains to the cell rattled indicating that our cage master.

"Oh no, the monster is here," Lilith whispered trembling in fear as she hid at a dark corner.

He was here to discipline me for causing a loud nuisance at the middle of the night.

We were rogue breeders, captured from weak packs and forced into servitude.

"Who was it? Which rat made that irritating sound?!" Our master growled in anger.

I stayed quiet, my heart beating fast from fear. "Alright, I will catch you myself. And when I do, you will never see daylight again." He snickered.

His words scared me, I knew what he was capable of and feared that he would end my life if I revealed myself.

His boots echoed with each menacing steps he took. I closed my eyes, holding my ragged cloth as I prayed in my heart not to be caught.

After a few seconds, he stopped beside me. I held my breath counting numbers in my head.

On the thirteenth count, he took a step away from me. I let out a sigh, thinking that he was gone but then I felt his hand yank my hair.

"Caught you, bitch! You are going to regret ever being born," he cackled with a horrifying voice.

I struggled to break free from him as the pain of his grip on my hair was unbearable.

Lilith watched him drag me away. I couldn't blame her since she powerless as me. She muffled her sounds crying in the dark. This was the last time we were going to see each other.

My master pulled me harshly, but I struggled like a stubborn brat that I was. Fighting to break free from him.

"You worthless bitch! Stay still!" He smacked my face with a brutal force that caused me to bleed from my mouth.

"Now, serve your master as a good slave," he snickered and pulled down his trousers revealing his disgusting manhood.

I closed my eyes in disgust infuriating him more.

"Stupid bitch! How dare you disobey me?!" He growled and wiped me with a spiky whip that peeled my skin.

I whimpered in pain enduring the torture until he got tired of hitting me. I'd rather die than serve him with my body.

When he realized that I won't burge, he began to force himself on me. I fought him, screaming for help even though it was useless.

"Please, stop. This is against the rule. A cage master is never to touch a breeder," I cried.

"Now, you are quoting the law for me. You worthless bitch!" He slapped me. "I can do whatever I want with you. So stop struggling and give in. Who knows you might get lucky with my gifted sparm." He chuckled.

I spat on his face aggravating his anger more. "You crazy bitch!" He yelled and took his whip again.

It was better to be bitten than have him get his way with me. He continued to hit me until I lost count and slowly began to lose my consciousness.

Each lash landed with a heavy sound renewing the pain on my skin. I couldn't even breathe anymore because of the strokes. He was going to kill me just like I had imagined in my head.

But I didn't want to die. Not yet. I still wanted to see the sky one last time, meet my family, my friends, my mate. I didn't have a mate yet because I had not awakened my wolf. But I guess that was never going to happen.

At least, I got to meet Lilith here and smile a little even though I was broken inside.

Suddenly, a growl echoed from behind and the cage master retreated in fear.

"What is going on here?!" The voice thundered.

"Alpha Knox?" The cage master stuttered as he dropped on his knees trembling. The name he heard called was no other than the dark Alpha of Winter fall.

“Hurry!” The guard guiding us whispered in the darkness. Lilith grabbed my arm. “We will be there soon,” she said, and I nodded. We continued running. Even though I could no longer go on but I pushed on. I loved my baby, but I hated that I was pregnant now, at all times. We kept running through the woods until I stopped. “You okay?” Lilith asked. “I…I... need. To … breath” my cheat rose and fell as I put my hands on my waist. The guard stopped. He was either irritated or scared. I couldn’t tell. That look he gave me made me stand again and we continued running. We kept running till we got to the end of the pack. I was out of breath, my mouth was open like funnel as I tried to breath. “We will wait here,” the guard said, in between breaths. A car appeared and we got in. The car pulled up at a huge dock. My eyes widened as I stared at the ship. “It’s huge,” I muttered. “Yes” Lilith nodded. We stood and watched them board. We queued up. When it was getting to our turn, I s

My eyes were ripped open by a flash of light. I squinted and used my hand to block the light. Unaware of my surroundings, I tried to turn, but I felt an intense pain in my foot. “Ah,” I tried to rub it, but I couldn't reach my leg. “She’s awake “I hears someone yell and instantly the room was surrounded by maid and then a disheveled-haired Lilith came running in. “Nina!” She touched my face. Her eyes were red, and she sniffed. Were those tears? Had she been crying? Wait a minute, what happened last? I stretched my hand to her. “Help me sit,” I croaked. She put her arm behind me and gently pulled me up. While up, my eyes scanned the room. I needed no telling that I was at the royal physician’s office. “Are you okay? Do I get you something?” Lilith asked. I slowly shook my head. “Where are we?” I asked. Her eyes widened. “You don’t remember?” she asked. I was about to shake my head when suddenly it hit me. The last thing I remember was gasping for breath and banging on the

I couldn’t breathe. I froze, like I had been rooted to that spot. Staring right back at me with tear-stained eyes and a mucus-running nose was none other than the nurse from the clinic. The one who had interrupted the doctor. She was wearing a maid's uniform. She must have a part-time nose. I briefly shut my eyes. I knew I had seen her at the palace. I cast a glance at Lilith. She looked icy, she wanted to cry. I smiled sadly. It was now obvious, even to the blind, that Ashira knew I was with child. “Why do you seem shocked, Nina?” I quickly raised my head to stare at Ashira. She crossed her arms and had a smirk on her face. Then I recalled her attitude when she came in. Now it all makes sense. ] “Oh, it’s nothing,” I smiled nervously. “Do you know her?” she probed further. She was basking in the moment of my confusion, her smirk widening by the minute. I shook my head. “Of course I don’t,” I said. “Oh really?” Ashira smirked. I nodded. Ashira walked around the room and p

The days that followed the making of Vincent, Knox's brother, the acting alpha, were filled with horror. For reasons best known to themselves, werewolves in the winter fell pack began to commit suicide. At first, I felt bad, and when the 3rd and 4th person died, I knew something was wrong. And just like Lilith had told me, Vincent Camden was a disaster for the winter fell pack. After the suicides, he sympathized with the families and gave them some money. People began to talk good about him, and I told Lilith maybe people were just scared. But little did we know that was the only good thing Vincent Camden would do. After that sympathy show, he approved witches and vampires to come as they like in the pack. This change created a room for evil in the pack. When one has issues, all they have to do is go to a witch and get a potion. The next thing you would hear was that the other werewolf was dead. Then came the tax. Werewolves were not money-driven. They preferred to live in pea

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Scared Shitless

“Are you sure she works in the palace?” Lilith said as soon as we got into the car. I shrugged. “I think it was just in your head,” Lilith said. “You sure?” She nodded. I stared at her and she smiled. “Believe me, Nina.” I gave her a small smile and turned to my side of the car. While we rode back, I was deep in thought, what if she heard what the doctor said? My heart broke. I looked down and rubbed my belly. I was scared for my baby and myself. We got back to the palace just in time before the gates were closed. Lilith called a few of her maid friends and her stepson, Lucas, to my chambers. She said it would act as a noise distraction. So whenever they hear anything coming from my room, we could easily say it was Lucas. Lilith tried to make me feel safe, but I was still troubled. The girl from the clinic made me worried. As I slept that night, I tried to assure myself that it was just in my head. ****************************************************************************

  • The Dark Alpha's Secret mate    Worried

It’s been 4 solid months since I last saw Knox. He had been locked up in the council of alphas' prison. He and his beta. I never thought I would miss him. Even after what he had done to me. Killing my parents, as they say. Though I didn’t believe any of it, there was that part that terrified the hell out of me. The slightest chance that everyone was right. That my brother was right in calling him a beast.Though that part hurt me but when I recalled that I was not his beloved, my heart shattered all over again. Knox had looked me in the eye and lied to me. He had told me he wouldn’t thread the time with me for anything. And I believed him. I cherished the night we spent together. The one before hell broke loose. I often caught myself fantasizing about what-ifs on most rainy nights. Above all my wishes, I had wanted something the most. A souvenir. I was at home with the fact that I might never see Knox again. He had hurt too many people already, but despite all he did, I wanted som
